FRYE, 80, of 31284 E. Fawn River Road, Sturgis, Mich., died Saturday, Aug.3, 2002, at Fairview Living Centre in Centreville. She was born June 4, 1922, in Fawn River Township, a daughter of Frank and Ora (EBERHARD) WEST. Frances had lived most of her life in Fawn River Township. On Dec. 25, 1940, she married Cleon FRYE at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. Frances was a homemaker and a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church in Howe, Ind. She enjoyed time spent with her family and watching and feeding the birds. Surviving are; her loving husband of 61 years, Cleon; two daughters and son-in-law, Dixie and Thomas PITTENGER and Debbie and Scott STEVENS, both of Sturgis; one son, Charles Douglas FRYE of Sturgis; eight grandchildren, Charles Douglas FRYE Jr., Charlene FRYE, Crystal REYNOLDS, Carol FRYE, Timothy PITTENGER, Tracy PITTENGER, Tiffany WEHNER and Maranda STEVENS: seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters. In accordance with her wishes, cremation had taken place. A private graveside committal of the ashes will take place at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak. The Rev. Robert Keim, First United Methodist Church in Sturgis will officiate. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Frye’s memory consider the Fairview Living Centre. Envelopes are available at the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home of Sturgis which is handling the arrangements.
