He had been ill since last April. He was born in Morgan County, Ky., January 3, 1920, the son of John L. and Jenny (YOKUM) ELKINS. ELKINS resided at R.R.1, Hudson, for 62 years, moving there from Kentucky. He was owner and operator of Elkins Housemoving and Construction Company. He was a member of the Helmer United Methodist Church and the Sturgis Moose Lodge. He was married in Ashley February 19, 1966, to Catherine (TRAXLER) DICKERSON, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Fred of Helmer and John of R.R.1, Hudson; three daughters, Rose Marie COOK of Fort Wayne, Lynn Etta STONE of R.R. 3, Wolcottville and Nellie John SHEPHERD of Helmer; a stepson, Rocky BOYER of Helmer; two step-daughters, Candy KILGALLEN of Helmer and Sue BOYER of Edon, Ohio; two sisters, Lizzie (Betty) AARON of Angola and Mae SOWLES of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. A daughter, Candy ELKINS; two brothers, Doc and Gordon, and two sisters, Lula ROBINSON and Eura Ann BABINO, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Helmer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Pease and the Rev. Vern Noll officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Kistler Johnson Funeral Home of Hudson, and at the Church Friday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society. END
