He was born Feb. 15, l913, in Nottawa Township, a son of the late Lawrence and Ada E. (Parker) Marvin. Jake had lived at his present address all of his life and was a l932 graduate of Mendon High School. On April 27, l946, he married Eleanor M. Pagels in Colon. Early in life Jake had farmed and worked as a carpenter, and later he worked for the former Transogram Company of Sturgis, retiring in l975 after 21 years of employment. He was a membere of the Colon Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, sang in the choir, was Sunday School superintendent, and was a Sunday School teacher. Surving are; his wife, Eleanor M. Marvin; a daughter, Susan and Ken Allabach of Sturgis; two sons, Larry and Batty Marvin of Peoria, Ariz., and Bruce and Donna Marvin of Sturgis, a daughter-in-law, Thelma and George Goss of Sturgis; 11 grandchildren and ll great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Allen F. Marvin in l981; four sisters, Flora Ambs, Ila Walters, Ruth Huff and Ethel Marvin; and four brothers; Edward, Ryald G., John W., and Walter H. Marvin. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Schipper Funeral Home Ltd. of Colon, where services celebrating the life of Frederick "Jake" Marvin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday: Rev. Robert N. Baxter of the Colon Baptist Church and Rev. George Goss of Sturgis will officiate. Burial will follow at Nottawa Cemetery, Nottawa. If desired, the family suggests memorials be mad in memory of Jake to the Colon Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
