He was born in Mendon July 19, 1908 the son of the late William and Bertha (HAPPEL) HELWIG. He attended the Beebe Country School and graduated from Mendon High School in 1926. He was married to Aileen GIFFORD on July 28, 1928 in Fort Wayne, IN. They have made their home on the family farm since 1938. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jacque H. HELWIG of Fulton; 3 daughters, Mrs. K. D. (Ardis) REED and Mrs. Paul (Donna) WOODS, both of Marshall and Mrs. Charles (Charlene) SUTTON of Battle Creek; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Roland of Kalamazoo and Harold of Berkley, CA; 1 sister, Loretta GALBREATH of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond and a sister, Gladys McCLISH. Friends may call after 7 p.m. this evening and anytime Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home, Mendon. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the North Fulton Cemetery, with Rev. Orlen L. Njus officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan. END
