(Mohney) Carr for St. Joseph County Michigan USGenWeb >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JOHNSON, Wilis, died March 2, 1932 JOHNSON, CROUGHAN, PHILLIPS, McCLISH Wilis JOHNSON, aged 74, of Mercer county, Ohio, born December 22, 1857, was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth CROUGHAN, September 11, 1877. They came to Mendon in the year of 1913, where they resided until the death of Mrs. JOHNSON, May 11, 1930, after which he resided with his son, Charles until his death, March 2, 1932. The deceased leaves to mourn their loss six sons; William G., of Vicksburg, John, Oskar, Charles, Earl and Floyd of Mendon; two daughters, Mrs. Frank PHILLIPS and Mrs. Leslie McCLISH, both of Mendon; and twenty-five grandchildren, besides numerous other relatives and friends. He was kind and thoughtful as a husband and a tender father. He never united with a church, although he was a firm believer of a Supreme Being, Sunset and the evening star. Services conducted by Rev. Alice Tench, Leonidas. And one clear call for me, And may there be no mourning of the bar When I put out to sea. But such a tire as mourning seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam; When that which ran from the endless deep, Turns again home Twilight and the evening bell, And after that the dark; And may there be no sadness of farewell When I embark, For though from out the bourne of time and place, The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar, A place is vacant in our home; A voice we love is still; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled The one his love has given; And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. END
