A land record for FRANCIS PITTS Dated 01 May 1839 Document #: 11770, Serial #: MI1340__.057 Meridian or Watershed: 19 Parcel: Township 1 S, Range 11 W, Section 20 has the same date as a land record for GARDNER PITTS Document #: 10818, Serial #: MI1320__.147 Meridian or Watershed: 19 Parcel: Township 7 S, Range 11 W, Section 13 Gardner Pitts was an early resident of St. Joseph County, Florence Township. I assume his land purchase, Township 7 S is in St. Joseph. I'm interested in Francis Pitts as this is the only record I have of him. Would Township 1 S also be in St. Joseph County? Does anyone have any record of Francis Pitts? Gardner Pitts was from Onondaga, N.Y. and had three sons there. The 1840 census in St. Joseph records only two sons who had to be Hiram Amasa Pitts and Gardner W. Pitts. Any help on this would be much appreciated. David T. Pitts
