Does anyone know if there was a mental hospital or any sort of "lock hospital" in White Pigeon in the 1865-1875 era? I am attempting to locate some information on an Eliza Thompson who died 26 March 1871 from an overdose of morphine. So far, I've been unable to locate a matching person on the 1870 census in St. Joseph County. This may be the gr-gr-gr-gr grandmother I've been trying to find and if she was in some sort of locked facility, would explain why she was not living with her husband and son (according to the 1870 census).
