Thanks Denise and very well said. Carol's contributions to the research of others is indeed very generous. I am amazed at the volumes that are contributed daily to this county. I subscribe to many and note the St Joseph is by far the busiest, "most productive". I will go to digest on all of my list due to the volume, I actually like the digest format. Carol keep up the good work and please never give up. I have seen some counties use the scan and convert technology that allows an obit to be scanned, then converted into an electronic character file, like what we see now that can be posted which may save on your flying fingers. I think I have seen where the gen society and library teamed up to buy the required equipment. Denise; I wonder as administrator if you can just move everyone to digest mode and contact those that have left and send them some digests as examples. It is a same to loose valuable contributors because of an utility change. My two cents John DeVinney Memphis, TN
Greetings St Joseph Co., MI researchers, Due to the recent change in the GenConnect Boards and the way they've been gatewayed to the MISTJOSE mailing list, (this action was 'automatic' and not controlled by me) you've noticed a 'huge' increase in activity. I'm notified every time someone sends an email to the mailing list, whether it's a posting, an unsubscribing request or a subscribing request. I'm making you aware of this because the past few days, we've had a tremendous number of people UNsubscribe due to the number of emails arriving in their 'inbox'. I am so disheartened by this as these researchers are depriving themselves of some wonderful potential data that might help them with their genealogy research. I encourage anyone who is even 'thinking' of unsubscribing to try the following. Unsubscribe from the mailing list in LIST mode and resubscribe to the mailing list in DIGEST mode. There's a HUGE difference in the way the emails arrive in your inbox. In the LIST mode, you'll receive every email individually. In the DIGEST mode, you'll receive 2-3-4 emails per day. (Much easier to handle if you don't want a bunch of emails in your inbox). Here are the directions if you want to change. UNsubscribe from the LIST mode by sending an email to the following: MISTJOSE-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word, unsubscribe in the subject line and body of the email. then send an email to SUBSCRIBE to the DIGEST mode: MISTJOSE-D-request@rootsweb.com with the single word, subscribe in the subject line and body of the email. We (the researchers of St Joseph Co., MI) are 'so' fortunate to have a very dedicated lady who, for the past year or so, day after day, has sat at her computer and transcribed obituaries and posted them to the GenConnect boards. She does this out of the goodness of her heart and because she loves the study of genealogy and wants to help others. Her name is Carole Carr and I am indebted to her for her tenacity and perseverance (and her nimble fingers). Please consider this option before you UNsubscribe permanently. I hope this helps. Sheriff's deputies who investigated the death learned that MOYER had been despondent in recent weeks over ill health. He underwent a serious operation for a malignant condition a few months ago but during the last few weeks he experienced a noticeable decline in health. He spent part of the summer at his home at Fisher's Lake near Three Rivers, but returned to the family homestead Sunday. MOYER specialized for years in the growing of mint and wormwood for the commercial market. He also had engaged in general farming and owned several tracts of land in and near Brady Township. He was active in church circles in Vicksburg. His principal hobby was fishing and for several seasons he landed the largest bass in Kalamazoo County. Chief Deputy Glenn K. Hammel and Deputy Charles Conner investigated the death. Judge David Morris acted as corner in the absence the two county coroners. The body was removed to the Rupert Funeral Home at Vicksburg. Moyer's immediate survivors are the wife, Bertha and one son, Myrl. END
