    3. A land record for FRANCIS PITTS Dated 01 May 1839 Document #: 11770, Serial #: MI1340__.057 Meridian or Watershed: 19 Parcel: Township 1 S, Range 11 W, Section 20 has the same date as a land record for GARDNER PITTS Document #: 10818, Serial #: MI1320__.147 Meridian or Watershed: 19 Parcel: Township 7 S, Range 11 W, Section 13 Gardner Pitts was an early resident of St. Joseph County, Florence Township. I assume his land purchase, Township 7 S is in St. Joseph. I'm interested in Francis Pitts as this is the only record I have of him. Would Township 1 S also be in St. Joseph County? Does anyone have any record of Francis Pitts? Gardner Pitts was from Onondaga, N.Y. and had three sons there. The 1840 census in St. Joseph records only two sons who had to be Hiram Amasa Pitts and Gardner W. Pitts. Any help on this would be much appreciated. David T. Pitts

    3. Is there anyone on the list who goes to the library to run microfilm that would look up a Burr Oak family on the 1880 census? I live in North Carolina and do this occasionally to help out-of-state persons who ask for a hand here. Just wondered. Thank you.

    1. [MISTJOSE] Arick/Wallick/Maddux
    2. I am looking for relatives. William Arick b. 1844 OH lived and died in Huntington, IN He m. Sarah Wallick b. 1846 OH. WIlliam had 3 children Melissa m. Charles Miller, George who remained in IN. and my grandfather William Jackson. William Sr. died in 1874 and Sarah m James Maddux. He died in 1888 They had 4 children Minnie m. John Smith, Henry m Ethel, Ray m Edna, and Francis m. Emma. On the 1920 census for Sturgis Francis had one child Florence b. can't make it out but either 1919 or 1920. I haven't been able to find the other children. The 3 Maddux sons and wife's and Sarah, and Miller's are buried in Oak Lawn Cem. Sturgis and my grandfather is buried in Coldwater. I remember as a child visiting the Millers in Sturgis. They had Fay m. Charles Monroe, Clara m Forest Shisley, Elvie m Velma Routsong and Milo m Velma Hanmer. I remember meeting their son Milo and I have a picture that I believe is the home in Sturgis. There is a woman standing outside with my grandfather and I think it is his sister. My grandfather died in 1964 and my father was an only child and he died in 1984, so a lot of family information is lost. If anyone knows anything about my family I sure would love to hear from you. 3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 1376 prisoners on record from the state of Illinois and the almost 800 known from Illinois who died here, I thought I would send my offer. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask.
