ECKERT, 77, 67611 Burr Oak Road, died April 20, 1990, at the home of his daughter, Patricia BLOSSER, Burr Oak. He was born July 4, 1912, in Sturgis, a son of Frank and Martha (PUESCHEL) ECKERT. In 1935, he married Lenora HOLTZ. She died in 1957. He was a lifelong Burr Oak area resident and a lifelong farmer. He graduated from Burr Oak High School. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Burr Oak Co-op, the Farm Bureau and the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burr Oak. He was employed at the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, Centreville. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia BLOSSER, Burr Oak; one son, Theodore (Ted) ECKERT, Burr Oak; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert ECKERT, Sturgis and Gerhard ECKERT, Hastings, Neb.; one sister, Brunhilde SCHMIDT, Sturgis; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha KAAS. Relatives and friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home, Sturgis. Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, with the Rev. Robert Garbisch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Sturgis. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. END

She was born July 31, 1900, in DeKalb County the daughter of Lewis and Mary (OBERLIN) BONEBRAKE. Mrs. ECKERT was a homemaker and a 1918 graduate of Hudson High School. She lived in rural Hudson since coming to the area in 1961 from south of Helmer. She was a member of St. John’s Untied Church of Christ, Ashely-Hudson, and was organist at the church for more than 70 years. She was also a member of the church organist at the church for more than 70 years. She was also a member of he church guild and Fairfield Home Extension Club. She was married in Salem Township June 29, 1918, to Granville J. ECKERTN (sic). He preceded her in death June 13, 1979. Survivors include a daughter, Mary CLINGAN, rural Hudson; three sons, Wayne, Helmer, and Eugene and Owen, both of Waterloo; a sister, Margaret SAMSEL, St. Paul, Minn., 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A son Louis, a grandson, Michael ECKERT, and a brother, Bill BONEBRAKE, preceded her in death. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, with the Rev. Reuben Bebler and Rev. Lorin Harrison officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery in rural Corunna. Preferred memorials are to St. John’s United Church of Christ. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. END

On March 7, 1959, he married Anne M. MALCZYNSKI, in Yonkers, N.Y. He graduated from Three Rivers High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. He was engaged in the building and construction business most of his life. He was an amateur radio operator for the State of Michigan for R.A.C.E.S. with call letters KB8AFP and he also was a member of the St. Joseph County Amateur Radio Club. Surviving are his wife; children, Mrs. Michael (Laurie) SCHUSTER and Mrs. Gary (Dianne) GREEN, both of Three Rivers, Thomas EDSON, Centreville, Glenn and Tammy EDSON, Nottawa; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Barbara) SCHABES, Three Rivers, and Mrs. Steve (Linda) SMITH, Jones; six brothers, Harold, Longview, Texas, Kenneth, Michigan City, Ind., Larry, Kettering, Ohio, Dennis Centreville, Rodney, Viola, Kan., and Robert, Lawton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Raymond E. Jr.; and two sisters. There will be no visitation. Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers, with the Rev. Gary Carr, Corey Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Cremation has taken place. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a rural Colon area resident the past 20 years, coming from Antwerp, Ohio. Surviving are his wife; one brother, Clarence EDMONDSON, Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John EDMONDSON and William H. EDMONDSON Jr. Relatives and friends may call from 2-7 p.m. today at the Schipper Funeral Home, Colon, where services are at 7 p.m. today. The Rev. Calvin J. Later he was employed with register division of Sturgis Newport, from 1927 to retirement in 1963. Mr. EDGINGTON attended the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Betty) HUNSBERGER of Sturgis; three sons, James R. and Paul Jr., both of Sturgis, and Joseph W. of Bronson; sister Mrs. Earl (Nel) ALBERTSON, Bryant, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Friends and relatives are being received at the Foglesong Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Ronald Miles, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. If desired, memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Chapter of the American Cancer Society. EDINGER, 78, Withers Road, died Sept. 12, 1996 at her home. She was born Dec. 12, 1917 in North Adams, a daughter of William Clifford and Violet (LAMB) ALLEN. She graduated from North Adams high School in 1935. On Nov. 27, 1941, she married Clair W. EDINGER in Hillsdale. He died Dec. 3, 1994. She had owned and operated a beauty shop in Hillsdale from 1945 to 1948. She then worked for the Willow Run Bomber plant during World War II. In 1949, she and her husband moved t Constantine and purchased the Withers Fishing Camp on the St. Joseph River which the family continues to operate. For many years she volunteered at the Constantine Public Schools. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and fishing and cherished the time she spent with family and friends. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and David PASHBY, Fort Worth, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Pennie EDINGER, Sturgis, and Larry and Carol EDINGER, Paw Paw; five grandchildren, Ben, Jeff and Becky EDINGER; Julie SYREK and Debar PASHBY; one great-grandson, Brady SYREK; five sisters, Opal AMBURGEY, Ruth MANN, Alma ROGERS, Dollie FALL and Lois SCHOPPE and several children to whom she opened her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Francis NESTER and two brothers in infancy. Relatives and friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the Constantine United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Barney officiating. Burial will be in Peek Cemetery. EDGINGTON, 80, of Prairie River Road, Bronson, died Feb. 2, 1997, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Bronson, a daughter of Ernie and Mabel (FISK) MILLIMAN, and was a lifelong Bronson area resident. On Nov. 11, 1935, she married Joseph EDGINGTON in Bryant, Ohio. She was office manager at the Bronson office of Consumer’s Power Company for more than 26 years, retiring in 1976. After her retirement, she was a volunteer at the Community Health Center of Branch County. A member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), she was selected as Woman of the Year in 1967. She also was a member and past president of the Bronson Women’s Club. She attended the Pleasant Hill Missionary Church and enjoyed bowling, golf, oil painting, crocheting and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gordon MILLER of Coldwater; three grandchildren, Pamela BOWERS and Lisa HARRELL, both of Coldwater and Rick MILLER of Bronson; and nine great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kolcz Funeral Home, Bronson, where services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Don Matteson of Pleasant Hill Missionary Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fry Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, James Robert EDGINGTON and Richard EDGINGTON when he was an infant. Relatives and friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Hackman-Foglesong Funeral Home, Sturgis, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today. Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Sturgis, with the Rev. James Bender, First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow the service.
