She was born in Union City, N.J., June 28, 1900, the daughter of Homer and Emma (CLEMENS) GONON. She was married February 14, 1920, to George ELLIOTT, who preceded her in death in 1984. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martha KOHLHEIM of LaGrange and Mrs. Boris (Doris) BORGHESI of Deltona, Fla.; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Carney-Frost Funeral Home in LaGrange with Dr. Terry T. Timson officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. END

ELLIOTT, 63, Rt. 2, Constantine, died Thursday afternoon in Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where he had been a patient nine days. He was born March 16, 1915 in Mentha, Michigan, a son of Walter and Alice (SONNERVILLE) ELLIOTT. He grew up in the Vicksburg area, graduating from Vicksburg High School and continuing his education at Michigan State University where he graduated and received a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics. He taught at Cassopolis for two years and was in the farm and home administration in Hastings, Mich., for several years. He had been a club agent in the Cooperative Extension Service in Ottawa and Muskegeon counties and then was an agricultural agent in Oceana County before coming to St. Joseph County where he was county agricultural agent until retired in 1966. He was a member of the Constantine United Methodist Church, of the St. Joseph County Commission for eight years and served in region three. He had been a member of he Centreville School Board, Intermediate School District, Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 24, F&AM of Centreville, Centreville Chapter No. 11 RAM, Three Rivers Commandery No. 29, St. Joseph County Soil District, St. Joseph County Planning Commission, Constantine Rotary Club and St. Joseph County Farm Bureau. On June 16, 1940 he was married to Mary Jane ZERBE in Constantine who survives with four sons, H.Jay of Mexico City, Michael of Sturgis, Gary of Constantine, Marc of Kalamazoo; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Mary) PITTS, of Olney, Maryland; five grandchildren and three brothers, Marion of Sterling, Ill., Walter of Vicksburg, Robert of Galesburg, one sister, Mrs. Frank (Shirley) SCHIEBEL of Beaverton, MI. In accordance with Mr. Elliot’s wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held in the Constantine Untied Methodist Church 7 p.m. on Monday. Rev. David A. Sellick officiating. Interment of the cremains will be in the Buchanan Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph County Park Commission for future planning. Arrangements were made by the Gisler Funeral Home in Constantine. END

He was a member and past trustee of the First United Methodist Church; a member of Kane Lodge No. 183, F&AM, in Elkhart; DeWitt Clinton Consistory and Saladine Temple in Grand Rapids; was a past president of the Sturgis Shrine Club, and a 35 year member of BPOE Lodge No. 1381 in Sturgis. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Linda) SOSNE of Caro, Mich.; his father, G.D. ELLIOTT of Sturgis and Bradenton, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation may be made in the Foglesong Funeral Home until noon Wednesday. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. George Hartman officiating. A graveside Masonic service will be conducted in Oaklawn Cemetery by Meridian Sun Lodge No. 49. END

A son, Robert and a brother, Harold preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo with Father David Carkenord officiating. Also surviving are two sons, Fred of Helmer and John of R.R.1, Hudson; three daughters, Rose Marie COOK of Fort Wayne, Lynn Etta STONE of R.R. 3, Wolcottville and Nellie John SHEPHERD of Helmer; a stepson, Rocky BOYER of Helmer; two step-daughters, Candy KILGALLEN of Helmer and Sue BOYER of Edon, Ohio; two sisters, Lizzie (Betty) AARON of Angola and Mae SOWLES of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Helmer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Pease and the Rev. Vern Noll officiating. She graduated from the Wells County School, Ossian, Ind. She was a past member of the Pythian Sisters, Ossian, and a member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau, the Florence Women’s Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the Three Rivers First United Methodist Church and the church Esther Circle, Bethany and Choir. In addition to helping in the operation of the family farms located at Union City, Coldwater and Constantine, she also worked in the 1950s for the Farm Bureau Office, Centreville, and later retired from the Federal Land Bank, Three Rivers. She enjoyed church, club activities, crafts and quilting. Surviving are her children, Mrs. Ralph (Wanda) HESLET, Hogle, Paul W. ELEY, Niles, and James and Pauline ELEY, Constantine; nine grandchildren, Judy COCHRAN, Paula POPE, Linda HOGARTH, Pamela COQUILLARD, Sharon BROOKS, Matthew HESLET, Joy RUMSEY, Patricia PORTINGA and Michael ELEY; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Victor (Ruth) CLARK, Onaway; a sister-in-law, Evelyn SNARR, Angola, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
