    2. For those of you who might want to follow up on the suggestion to do research in Michigan for transplanted Missourians, here are some long-time major locations for Michigan automotive plants/factories. The following areas have auto plants that are still in operation, dating from the early-to-mid 1900s, although they may not all be in their exact original locations. Detroit in Wayne County Hamtramck in Wayne County (Hamtramck is the correct spelling!) Flint in Genessee County Bay City in Bay County Saginaw in Saginaw County Pontiac in Oakland County Lansing in Ingham County Also, the main Ford plant used to be in Highland Park in Wayne County. Highland Park and Hamtramck are independent cities, although they are both located within (surrounded by) the city of Detroit. Highland Park is where Henry Ford implemented and perfected his assembly line method in the early 1900s, and raised wages to $5.00 per day. The Highland Park factory no longer exists, although some remaining parts of the old buildings are being used for other purposes. jippi in Michigan
