Let's hope some of you amateur surveyors out there can tell me how close these people were living to each other. These are legal land descriptions of property obtained through BLM warrants: Boone County: Bryant Rice 1 W1/2NW 23/ 48-N 14-W 5th PM Anthony Owsley 1 SW 27/ 48-N 14-W 5th PM John M. Rice 1 E 1/2 NW 30/ 47-N 12-W 5th PM Howard County: Bryant Rice 1E1/2NE 26/ 49-N 17-W 5th PM Seth Botts 1W1/2NW 26/ 52-N 17-W 5th PM Linn County Jesse Rice 1SW 33/ 57-N 22-W 5th PM Wm Rice 1SW 8/ 58-N 20-W 5th PM Joshua Botts 1SESE 1/ 57-N 22-W 5th PM Seth Botts 1 NWNE 35/ 58-N 22-W 5th PM I suspect this Bryant Rice is connected to my bunch of Rice's who are related to the Botts family - descendants of old Joshua Botts who married Sarah Owsley in Rowan County, N.C. in the 1770's or 1780's.. Sarah Owsley's sister, Mary Owsley, married my ancestor, William Rice between 1772 and 1778, and were in Rowan County, N.C. by 1778. I think ol' Bryant Rice was born in Kentucky, and if anyone has info on him, I'd like to hear from you. Samuel Rice from the 1850 Linn County, MO census is given as a son of this John M. Rice, a son of a Samuel Rice (who could be the same Samuel Rice who went to KY with Boone about 1775). Will
