    3. CHARITON COURIER -- Keytesville, Chariton County, Missouri -- 23 November 1878 RUCKER, Capt. A.L.F., an old MO. Rev., man, and at one time owner of a dozen boats, blew out his brains on the 13th at the house of Dr. COMSTOCK in Kansas City. Capt. Rucker had been suffering greatly from consumption and becoming convinced that his disease was incurable, he took this speedy method of ending his sufferings. _________________________ THE FORT SCOTT DAILY MONITOR -- Thursday, 14 November 1878 ~~~~~~~ SUICIDE ~~~~~~~ Acting City Marshal Basemann, received a telegram from Kansas City last night, stating that CAPT. RUCKER, brother of CITY MARSHAL, C.T. RUCKER, of Fort Scott, had shot and killed himself in that city, at six o'clock, Tuesday night. Mr. RUCKER had been suffering from consumption, and had gone to Kansas City under the care of Dr. Comstock, in order to effect a cure if possible. No cause is assigned for the act beyond that of MENTAL and PHYSICAL SUFFERING and despairing of ever becoming well again, as he had repeatedly said that he would destroy himself if he did not improve in health. His body will be brought to Fort Scott for burial... -------------------- THE FORT SCOTT DAILY MONITOR -- Sunday, 17 November 1878 The remains of CAPT. L.F. RUCKER, who died in Kansas City on Tuesday last, were brought to this city on the Gulf Train yesterday afternoon and the funeral services will be held at the residence of C.T. RUCKER, corner of Main and Locust Streets, at 2 o'clock p. m. to day.
