You asked for it... :).... :) BOY.. do I ever have a brick wall. His name is Richard Johnston (Johnston). AND.. I started working on genealogy in 1968. I know no more about this person than I did in 1968/1969. He has managed to remain a mystery for 30 years. Here is what I know... Richard Johnston (Johnson) b. abt 1794 in Georgia (based on 1850 census of Wayne Co., Missouri). Occupation - Physician (based on 1850 census) In the 1850 census of Wayne Co., Missouri he is listed with 2 children - no wife. The children are: Leo Dicia Johnston - b. abt 1838 in Arkansas William Johnston - b. abt 1842 in Missouri Leo Dicia Johnston is my great-grandmother. By the 1860 census of Reynolds Co., Missouri, Leo Dicia has married and is living with her husband James Newton Carnahan. Living with Richard Johnston in the 1860 census of Reynolds Co. is the son William Johnston and his new wife Sarah. They also have a son, Joseph, age 2 months. The Wayne Co., Missouri History by Rose Fulton Cramer lists a Richard Johnston as an early doctor on the Western side of Wayne Co. but includes no additional information. And... then I have not been able to find any additional information about this family. Richard and William have remained a mystery. Any help would be very GREATLY appreciated. Thanks and take care - Emma
Emma I've been following the Johnston folks too... but in Cooper Co -- from Bourbon Co. KY. There's also a Johnston connection to William H. Johnston -- who was married to Margaret Hutchinson....I believe William had a brother and sister -- who came out to Missouri as well... to Boone Co... Just a try? traci [email protected] wrote: > > In a message dated 4/5/2001 11:25:53 PM Central Daylight Time, > [email protected] writes: > > > Maybe it's time for folks to dig out their toughest Missouri brick wall and > > tell us about it. > > > Ok Megan, > Remember..
