Hi I was one of many (a troop-train full!) who were accidentally sent to Shepard. At that time Lackland AFB (to which we were to have been sent and eventually were) had not yet had that name; it was still known as San Antonion Aviation Cadet Center (SAACC). >From SAACC, I was sent to Chanute and was a weather observer instructor there almost until my discharge.
