In one of mine all 5 boys were named John and all 5 girls Mary, with different middle names. The oldest boy and girl used John and Mary, the others used their middle names. The biggest problem was that when a census taker asked for a man's name and he said John Peter -----, the man wrote down John, not Peter. All of the sons were "John" on the census. This was a Swiss family in Pennsylvania. . . . James R.
