But, I also understand that, while I've been on this list and many others for years now... once upon a time I was new to "lists" too and didn't have any idea how they worked or what was considered "standard etiquette" for posting genealogy messages... for instance, listing surnames in all CAPS. Perhaps it would be helpful if newcomers to a list were to receive some kind of welcome e-mail outlining the "dos and don'ts" of utilizing a list to their best advantage. Until then, I ... for one ... am grateful that our listowners don't seem to get tired of explaining the "rules and regs" to those who are doing nothing more than the same thing we "old-timers" are doing ... searching for our ancestors.
