I’ve been told by relatives that a large number of very old Probate Court records were found in the clock tower of the Vernon County Courthouse in Nevada, Mo. They go back at least to the 1870’s, if not farther. The county was going to discard them, but the Historical Society asked for them and received them. They stored them on the third floor of the new Library/Museum. Schoolchildren have volunteered to do some of the work in “sorting them out”, but that isn’t enough. I’M TOLD THAT THEY NEED MONEY FOR THE PROJECT.
