UMKC's African-American History Month partial listing of events: Sunday, Feb. 4: The Conservatory of Music will sponsor the George Salisbury Cabaret Concert featuring Bobby Watson, Tim Whitmer, Ahmad Alaadeen, the Conservatory Jazz Ensemble and a host of other Kansas City Jazz performers from 2 to 6 p.m. in Pierson Auditorium, University Center, 50th Street and Rockhill Road. The event is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, students and children. African Royalty Expert Helps UMKC Celebrate African-American History Month KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Runoko Rashidi, considered by many historians to be one of the world's leading authorities on African kings and queens in Egypt and Nubia, will present a lecture during the University of Missouri-Kansas City African-American History Month celebration. The event, co-sponsored by the African-American History and Culture House and the Association of Community Reformation, will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 in Pierson Auditorium, University Center, 50th Street and Rockhill Road. His Global African Community Lecture Series features topics ranging from the African presence in Ancient Europe and America to African historians. Rashidi has made presentations at more than 60 colleges and universities in the United States, Egypt, India, England and France. He also owns a collection of more than 3,000 slides chronicling the African foundations of world civilizations.
