Hi, Does anyone here have family members that served with the 89th Division during WW1. Mostly seeking members of 1st Battalion (Co. A,B,C,D) 356th Inf. But will talk with everyone. I have copies for 3 of the units history but not for Co. C. Would like to find a copy of Unit History for Co C 356th Inf. Please, check your History Societies and Libraries Jefferson Saunders Researching Saunders, Pickles, Snedden in Missouri.
The major names I'm researching are: Charles W. WELLS, wife Sarah Ann (GREGG/GREIG/GRAGE) and children: Dema, Edwin and Martha, are shown on Dunklin Co. census, 1860; Edwin Finley WELLS and his wife, Minnie Mae (GOUGE), migrated from IL to MO around 1892. 1907 finds them in New Madrid Co. Edwin may have died in the Walnut, Newton Co., AR area around 1917. RIGGS, anytime to present. COLEMAN line begins with Sam COLEMAN, down to Hattie COLEMAN, b. 1884, TN. Hattie married Claud Melvin RIGGS and some of their offspring settled in MO. GOUGE line starts with James Franklin GOUGE, whose family is shown on the 1900 census as being in Bollinger Co., MO. Any help with these lines if greatly appreciated. Peggy Riggs Kopp
Update! Name change! I had been writing you all about my Grandfather Bill Mimms. Well that turns out to be a "Nick name". His real name is on file with California Death records: EDDIE B. MIMMS b. 9/10/1892 d. 4/8/1967 CA His father was Gideon Mimms married to Lou Ella Riley. His parents were both from Kentucky families, but moved to Missouri with many other Kentucky families. The Mimms are intermarried with : James/Cole/Poor/Riley/Younger families both in Kentucky and out West in Missouri. We still have ties to Logan Co., KY. My Grandfather's older brother was CLYDE MIMMS. My grandfather was a fireman on the railraod, and that is what brought him to settle in California's Central Valley about 1925. If you are related please write and I can share my data with you. Thanks, Lillian Kathleen Martin

I am researching my ancestor Dr. Jeremiah Brower 1801-1875. He was born in Dutchess Co, NY the son of Jacob Brower and Abigail Mernig. His siblings are: John Abraham, Jacab, Lawyer, Chancellor L., and Martha. I have tracked him thru Illinios with his brothers earlier. Then they settled in the Counties of Schuyler and Marion in MO. They are ethically from the early Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam(New York). As of 1850 Jeremiah and second wife Nancy Weaver Swindle were living with children in Schuyler co. not far from brother John A. Brower. I have a great deal of data on his life and descendants. I would love to share this data with other researchers. I would also like to find the death date of Dr. Brower's first wife Lucinda Day who married 1827 in Jackson Co., IN and died in Marion Co., MO 1836. Please write if you are also involved with this family. Lillian Kathleen Martin.

But, I also understand that, while I've been on this list and many others for years now... once upon a time I was new to "lists" too and didn't have any idea how they worked or what was considered "standard etiquette" for posting genealogy messages... for instance, listing surnames in all CAPS. Perhaps it would be helpful if newcomers to a list were to receive some kind of welcome e-mail outlining the "dos and don'ts" of utilizing a list to their best advantage. Until then, I ... for one ... am grateful that our listowners don't seem to get tired of explaining the "rules and regs" to those who are doing nothing more than the same thing we "old-timers" are doing ... searching for our ancestors. Thanks Ms. Piglet! :) Izzy ... Searching for: WILSEY, WAPLES, PARSONS, HARSCH, DART, & GIBSON in Clark County, Missouri and Lee County, Iowa
Does anyone know whether City Directories were published for the town of Union in Franklin County, Missouri during the years 1885-1930? If the answer is "yes," can you tell me [1] who was the publisher, and [2] are the directories searchable either online or at a physical location? Thank you for your help. I have on loan 5 volumes of the "Germans to America" series that I will have for about another week. I can do lookups. These volumes cover nov 1881 to april 1883 Laurel Treat
The list owner has sent a couple of messages, explaining why the practice of sending messages with only "Roll Call" in the subject line is a problem.......she strongly suggested that we discontinue it. It seems that some people just don't get it. If people can't read and comprehend her messages, how on earth are they able to read anything else. Every couple of months this occurs and when someone is on many lists, as most of us are, it is one big pain to have it all explained all over again, especially when it is ignored. Imagine how annoying it is to the listowners who must do this all the time. So everyone, PLEASE STOP!! Eileen
