    1. [MO] ordering birth and death certificates in MO
    2. Millers
    3. Hi, A friend of mine told me this on ordering birth and death certificates for MO: "Death Records start January 1, 1910 (Records they release) in Jefferson City, MO. Address is: Missouri Department of Health Bureau of Vital Records P.O. Box 570 Jefferson City, MO 65102-0570 Cost is $ 10.00-Fee must accompany request, check-Money Order payable to Missouri Department of Health. They only check the year you give them, if not found, they still keep your money. Divorce records available, free if you go in on these and know county where divorcee was obtained. All rest costs, like everything else. They also want to know the relationship to deceased, if recent, on Birth Certificates, only direct family members can obtain these! Plus they request for a lot of death certificates to obtain who the wife was, etc., on family members." Another friend who has done this told us: "write and request a form and they will send you some and you can fill them out and mail them to the above address...I just received my forms and have been told it may take 3 or 4 weeks to get them back.. You can pay by credit card they said and you would be charged a one time fee, I believe it was $4.50... It is also good to have the forms and have them filled out if you are planning on going to Jefferson City to pick up your certificates, we were told.." Hope this helps, Lanita Sconce Miller Wichita

All I have is her maiden name, place of birth and her two married names. I do not have a parent or spouse except for the last names. I do have her children's names if that would be helpful. 2. Willie D. Smith
    3. Hello, I hope someone on this list can help me. I do NOT have access to Missouri census data, and I need your help. I found online a reference to a Samuel Rice living near a Seth Botts on the 1850 Linn County census. BUT, there is NO family data, and I do not have access to these census records in Tennessee. If anyone has the 1850 census, would you please look up this Samuel Rice for me and give me his census data? I'm interested in any RICE, BOTTS, and OUSLEY data pertaining to that area of Missouri. Thanks Will Smith

    1. [MO] New Census Spreadsheet Available!
    2. Gary Minder
    3. I recently posted an offer on several lists to send a copy of a U.S. Federal census spreadsheet I developed to anyone interested. The response was overwhelming! It quickly became obvious to me that there are many people as frustrated as me over not having a good method for organizing census extraction data. I created a website to handle the demand for my spreadsheet and quickly got busy developing more spreadsheets for my fellow census researchers. I am proud to announce that I am now making available a new spreadsheet I call CENSUS TRACKER, which I created to supplement and compliment my U.S. Federal 1790-1920 spreadsheet. It allows a researcher to document up to 130 years of the most genealogically significant census data for an individual on a single worksheet! At a glance and in a very professional appearing report, you can trace the important aspects of your ancestors' lives. Your pile of census data, difficult to analyze and evaluate when buried in drawers and paper files, comes alive when logically organized! I invite you to stop by my website at http://www.censustools.com and take a look. Census Tracker and my other spreadsheets are available for immediate download! If you previously visited my website at rootsweb, please change your bookmark. If you use the old address you will be redirected to my new website. 1. [MO] Re: CASSIDY/St. Louis
    2. Diane, The CASSIDY family in St. Louis is one of the toughest names to work. My grandmother's maiden name was CASSIDY, and as luck would have it her father's name was PATRICK JOSEPH. I think every Cassidy family has at least 4 or 5 Patrick Joseph's. Anyhow, to my knowledge there is no Missouri Death Index. The St. Louis Genealogy Society has recently completed an index of deaths that occurred from 1850-1910 (I think these are the correct years), There is a paper copy at the Societies office. You might contact them for a lookup, this will be done by a volunteer, but there will be a fee. You will need to provide additional information for lookups in obits and cemeteries, i.e. Given names, Religious Preference, narrow time frames as close as possible and other surnames that might be associated with the individual. You might be able to narrow the search for Given names using the Census address and the St. Louis City Directories. When it comes to A. CASSIDY burials in Calvary Cemetery you have: ABNER 24 DEC 1911 ALEXANDER 15 MARCH 1896 ANDREW, 17 JUN 1916 Bill Some Data on cemeteries and funeral homes <http://genealogyinstlouis.accessgenealogy.com/buchholz.htm> Surnames of Interest: BUCHHOLZ anywhere -BECKMANN-CASSIDY-DeL0NJAY-DREES-NENTWIG-NEUTZLER-PONCOT-RENSING-STAUDER- STIEFFERMANN

    1. [MO] Is there a death index?
    2. This is my first posting to this list. I have not researched for anyone in Missouri before. Right now my only surname is CASSIDY. Does Missouri have a death index similar to the one in Illinois? I finally found my ancestor as a 7 year old child in the 1880 census, but I believe her mother had died by then. Since I don't know her first name, I wanted to search all females surnamed Cassidy who died during that time period. I would start with St. Louis, because that is where the family lived in the 1880 census. Her father went by A. Cassidy, so it looks like I have a lot more work to do. Thank you for any advice, Diane
