I can not believe the responses I have gotten..I want to thank everyone for being so helpful. it means alot. Okay. I have already gotten his social security application..(mainly to see who his parents were.) His full name was : David William Landis b. May 19, 1909 in Belton Missouri d. October 1958 Liberty Missouri m&d Ruth E. Pritchard of Columbus Ohio (Together they had my mother, not sure of other siblings) David's father: George Wiseman Landis his mother: Mary Alberta Elwell (she went by Alberta) (Odd thing about Ruth (his wife), her STEP-grandmother (Ida Butterworth) married a man from Columbus named William Landis, we have wondered if they were related and that was how Ruth and David met...possible...) I only found out this weekend where he was living at the time of his death so I haven't had a chance to get an obit..being as there are 3 Liberty's in 3 counties I thought I would narrow down the search a little to do a search in those counties. and try to find a date for his death as well. David lived in 3 states that I know of so far: Ohio, Kansas and Missouri. At one time he was staying with his brother in Kansas before moving to Missouri. This is about all I have right now. And once again thank you EVERYONE for helping me I really appreciate it and can see some team work going on with the list,,,which is awesome. If I can help any of you here in Tennessee please let me know. Hello, I am looking for any info about my gGrandmother MARIE (Mary) WOGEMUTH b. abt. 1852, the census says Mary was born in MO. But that her parents were born in France. Mary Wolgemuth married gGrandpa Joseph Leon Meugniot (b. 1839 France ) in Kansas in 1868 and they lived the rest of their lives in Wathena, Doniphan County, Kansas. Wathena is right next to St. Joseph, MO. I am looking for any of Mary's family. I've looked the name Wolgemuth up on the net and it's about as rare as the name Meugniot, but there are a few. Thank you for any sort of help you can give me. Janice in WA state Janice Y. Miller "Till We Meet Again" Email - [email protected]
I am seeking information who was born to a Velma Mae Chandler. She parents forced her to give him away. He could be in the Kansas City area, Wichita area or even down around Tulsa. His half sister is looking for him and she said he may have been with a family by the name of Weatherman. His uncle was Frank Chandler and the Weatherman's were his in-law's. He would have been born around 1922 or 1923. Please contact me if you have any information on this man. Thank you Beverly Phillips
I recieved a letter back yesterday about a query I had made about my grandfather to the Social Security Administration. I had asked them if they could at least let me know where he was living when he died and the date he had died. I had already had the month and year. They answered back with his last residence at the time of his death. I am hoping that some kind soul can help me out. They said he was living in Liberty at the time of his death in October 1958, when looking for the county it came up with 3, Callaway, Clay and McDonald. I am not sure which county he was in. My mother had never gotten to know her father as while she was a toddler her maternal grandparents sent her away (this was during the depression), he was out of state at the time looking for work. She is almost 70 now and still hasn't been able to pay her respects to her parent as we have yet to find where he is. (we found her mother, Columbus Ohio, a little to late, but have paid our respects to her). (this is what started my genealogy bug, looking for my grandparents, trying to reconnect with a family we had never gotten the chance to know.) I am hoping that someone out there on this internet highway can help me. I really appreciate it and am willing to help others also... I have answered Carole Beth via private e-mail, but the rest of you may be interested in learning that Heritage Quest has compiled an index for the 1870 census for the entire US. I think they may no longer be producing these searchable CDs, but last I saw most were on sale at $9.95. http://www.heritagequest.com Good luck, Elizabeth Richardson, Ketchikan, Alaska [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Carole Beth Arnette <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, February 05, 2001 9:25 PM Subject: [MO] 1870 Index available >Hello: Is there a 1870 surname index available from LDS on file or fiche? >I need please a lookup for these names: > >MIZNER maybe MISNER >CURNELL > >Thank you, >Carole Beth Arnette >San Antonio, TX >[email protected] > > >==== Missouri Mailing List ==== >Need to find the county for a town? Let's hope some of you amateur surveyors out there can tell me how close these people were living to each other. These are legal land descriptions of property obtained through BLM warrants: Boone County: Bryant Rice 1 W1/2NW 23/ 48-N 14-W 5th PM Anthony Owsley 1 SW 27/ 48-N 14-W 5th PM John M. Rice 1 E 1/2 NW 30/ 47-N 12-W 5th PM Howard County: Bryant Rice 1E1/2NE 26/ 49-N 17-W 5th PM Seth Botts 1W1/2NW 26/ 52-N 17-W 5th PM Linn County Jesse Rice 1SW 33/ 57-N 22-W 5th PM Wm Rice 1SW 8/ 58-N 20-W 5th PM Joshua Botts 1SESE 1/ 57-N 22-W 5th PM Seth Botts 1 NWNE 35/ 58-N 22-W 5th PM I suspect this Bryant Rice is connected to my bunch of Rice's who are related to the Botts family - descendants of old Joshua Botts who married Sarah Owsley in Rowan County, N.C. in the 1770's or 1780's.. Sarah Owsley's sister, Mary Owsley, married my ancestor, William Rice between 1772 and 1778, and were in Rowan County, N.C. by 1778. I think ol' Bryant Rice was born in Kentucky, and if anyone has info on him, I'd like to hear from you. Samuel Rice from the 1850 Linn County, MO census is given as a son of this John M. Rice, a son of a Samuel Rice (who could be the same Samuel Rice who went to KY with Boone about 1775). Will
Need info on a John M. Rice born circa 1773 of Boone County, MO. His son, Samuel Laffle Rice, may be the same Samuel Rice in Linn County, MO 1850 census. This John M. Rice may be the son of our William Rice and Mary Owsley of Claiborne County, TN. Need info on family of Samuel Laffle Rice born December 30, 1802. This particular John Rice may have gone up to Hardin County, KY before pushing off to Missouri. Samuel Rice was living next to Seth Botts in 1850 Linn County, MO census, and an "M" Rice was on 1840 Howard County census near the Botts family. William Rice's brother-in-law was Joshua Botts who married Sarah Owsley in Rowan County, N.C. Thanks Will John may also be the "M" Rice on 1840 Howard County, MO census. Where is Boone County in relation to Howard and Linn? Thanks Will Smith
I wish to find a copy of the above book compiled by Maxine Wasson Ables. It is my understanding this was published in 1990. Maxine was a distant cousin and I was making plans to come to Springfield to meet her this spring. Sadly she died on Jan. 15th and I would like very much to obtain as much of her Genealogy papers as possible. Does anyone know this book or possibly knew Maxine? Anything you can offer would be so appreciated. Patricia Brewer
