Ramona, I grew up in that area and don't think there were any such trade unions then or even now. Some of those independent craftsmen did however belong to some of the fraternal organizations, such as the Masons, IOOF, etc. Cal Phillips ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2001 12:07 AM Subject: [MO] Carpenters Union > I am having so much trouble finding information on my Great grandfather, John > H. I am having so much trouble finding information on my Great grandfather, John H. Evans around Carroll and Livingston County. Some time in the mid 1800s John H. built a home in Tina, Carroll Co., for his future or by then his father in law, John B. Parsley. It was still standing in 1983 and may still be. My question is this, can anyone tell me if there was a Carpenters Union or something similar to that where a person might check for information. Any help would be appreciated. Hi Listers! If you recently sent a lookup request to my husband, Randy, for 1880 and 1910 Newton County census lookups, could you please re-send it? I accidentally deleted some of these requests. If you're not sure, re-send your request anyway. We'll weed out the duplicates. Sorry! Randy & Karen (Bit by the genealogy bug!!) Mary, Thank you for all the BURNETT information - you certainly went above and beyond. I am going to cross reference these names with those found on census records for the BURNETT families with first names given to me by my grandmother - then think some of these will prove to be the children of her uncle's. Is there a book like this one for Ray Co - have found BURNETT's buried "across" the line from Caldwell in Ray that have the same first names as what my grandmother gave me. Bonnie and others, There are some Tuttles in Houston, Texas Co., MO. They use to own Tuttle Gas there...(not a filling station) in the 1970's. They were an established family there. You might check! Lanita in Wichita

New to list... My wild goose chase.... In 1871 2 young sisters came to St Charles Missouri to stay with their older sister and her family...these 2 girls were BRIDGET KANE and KATHREINE KANE br 1848 & 1850 Mylerstown Co Kildare...the yr befor they had come from Ireland to stay with their brother PATRICK O'KEANE in Fall River Mass...in 1871 they traveled to St Charles... They evidently lived with this older sister and her family until they both entered the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Marysville Mo..Bridget in 1875... Katherine following her in 1878... Sr Katherine died in 1929 St Joseph Mo and Sr Bridget died in 1937...in Sr Bridgets obit it said that her niece MRS JOHN MURPHY of Kansas City Missouri attended her funeral... What I am looking for is the UNKNOWN older sister of Bridget and Katherine Kane...this Unknow sister would have been br in Ireland befor 1848 her parents names would have been MICHAEL KANE and BRIDGET DUNGAN..her father Michael was a tailor in Mylerstown Co Kildare...she had 8 other siblings...I know names of 5...Patrick [also a tailor], Bridget, Katherine, Michael and a younger sister Elizabeth br 1859 who married a MICHAEL JOHN O'CONNOR in 1882 Co Kildare..he also was a tailor they came to this country in 1884..there was also a brother named MICHAEL all were in this country by 1884....another possible brother might have been a PETER KANE who was a witness to the marriage of Elizabeth and Michael in Ireland in 1882... I am also looking for information on this JOHN MURPHY family of Kansas City Mo in 1937...believe this niece of Sr Bridget Kane might be a daughter of UNKNOWN older sister of St Charles...know that another niece mention in her obit was a daughter of her sister Elizabeth O'Connor nee Kane...Mrs R.[Mayme] Brukhardt of Huntington WV..... This is about all I know re Missouri and my 2 surnames there...the only other name I have is a Rev Father Hayden SJ of St Charles that evidently was a advisor to Sr Bridget befor she entered the Convent in 1878...someone who has Catholic lines in St Charles might reconize his name and the parish he was at that might pin down the area where this UNKNOWN OLDER sister lived there in St Charles. Enjoy the day SLC
Seeking any info or contact with descendants of: Alma (WELLS) WENDELL, b. 1892, MO; no death date or name of spouse. Her parents were Edwin Finley and Minnie (GOUGE) WELLS. Alma is mentioned in the Will of Amos D. BARNETT, dated Nov. 27, 1911. She lived in Kansas City, MO, at that time. Any help is greatly appreciated. Peggy Riggs Kopp
Booneville was the location of the US Government Land Office issuing the patent, not the county seat of the county containing your plot of land. When I searched , for section 30 township 38 north, range 18 west of 5th Principal Meridan, I get Camden County, Missouri. The county seat is Camdenton, the county clerk should be able to supply you with a map that contains section lines. To do your own search, I suggest, you go to the Bureau of Land Management site. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ Do a "Search Land Patents" This will give you a search screen, http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/search.asp On that search screen, sellect state of Missouri, then scroll down and fill in the section number, township number and direction, range number and direction, and meridan name. The search will give you the name of patentees on that section. Click on "details" for county location and other information. You can even download a copy of the patent Or if you are only interested in a name, fill in the proper name field and leave the rest blank.
