Hi, Does anyone know the location of Delphi or St Johns, Kansas. I tried the city, state on rootsweb, didn't have an answer which county. I am trying to find newspaper report on my grandfather killed in an accident on train track in 1935. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.
SAINT JOHN, KS is in STAFFORD County. DELPHOS, KS is in OTTAWA County. Never heard of DELPHI...might want to check on Kansas "unknown" county site, though. Lanita Wichita

I am a descendant of John Justice, Sr, through his son, Thomas E. Justice, SR. I know that there are many Justices that spell their last name: JUSTIS Pam, I looked for your Manerva and she wasn't in my data base. I might suggest you get on the JUSTICE mailing list. It is very active and I feel like you might hit upon something there. Lanita
These military questions and answers have peeked my interest. I have a question and please answer according to protocol, I am not sure what that is. Thank you-Candace 1. I have a bracelet of my father's and this is engraved on the backside: Bill C. Hamilton A. S. N. ________ (an 8 digit #) January 11, 1943 2. I have what I think were his "dog tags", with the same # plus a T44 A after the #. What do these mean and how do I find out more information about when he joined etc.? Thank you very much-Candace
Pam and all, Ancestry.com has "Missouri Marriages 1851-1900" free at this time, you might want to check it out.... Pam, I looked for you Manerva Justice there, didn't see it, but you might want to check out the Missouri Marriages for yourself.... (My ancestor was "Jane Pyle" and on her marriage record it was "Jane Piles"....I am sure we all have run into the spelling thing!!) Good luck in your search... Sandra Ellington Freeman
Does anyone own one or both of the following C.D.'s who wouldn't mind doing a look-up for me. I would really appreciate it. Genealogy.com has two cd's listed: Family Archive 234-Missouri Marriages 1851-1900 and Family Archive #5- Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri & Texas Marriages 1766-1981 I'm looking for a marriage between Manerva Justice and ? Thank you! Pam
Scott AFB is near Belleville, IL. We spent 12 years there from 1959 to 1971. At that time it was about 8 miles from Belleville but both have spread out towards each other since. Even then most people said it was in Belleville. Gracie
I predicted in a recent E-mail that this was coming. The various messages that were on the list were pertinent . The subject arose from a genealogical iquiry and there were some replays that need correction or clarification so that the genealogical records involved would also be complete(r) and correct. Some extra chat got included in replies that were no necessarily directed to the list. Folks, let's let the list admin (me) admin the list and let's not start a flame war about who can tell who what they can post. Please. Megan "Piglet" Zurawicz, ListPig [email protected] [email protected]
I hate to say this but your remarks are one good way to start a war. I certainly hope it doesn't start with this list. Remember the delete key please. Can those of you who are exchanging messages about various military bases please correspond with each other individually? The purpose of this list is to share genealogical information about our ancestors in Missouri. Could the manager of this list, from time to time, remind people of how the list operates? Thanks.

Hi I was one of many (a troop-train full!) who were accidentally sent to Shepard. At that time Lackland AFB (to which we were to have been sent and eventually were) had not yet had that name; it was still known as San Antonion Aviation Cadet Center (SAACC). >From SAACC, I was sent to Chanute and was a weather observer instructor there almost until my discharge. Hi Leslie, Maxwell Field, Alabama is now Maxwell AFB, Ala. and is located at Montgomery, AL. I don't know if they trained bombardiers there in WW2. I know that there were other training bases for bombardiers. In 1946 Maxwell became the Air University and it still is same. I spent 4 months there in 1961 but that doesn't do you much good, does it. John (Hunt) can you throw any more light on this subject? By the way for all. Officers in the AAF were designated as AC e.g. John Doe, 1Lt AC. AC stood for Air Corps and was a branch of the Army like INF was infantry and FA was Field Artillery. Enlisted men in the AAF were not designated or identified as AC. That was different from the pre war Army Air Corps which became the Army Air Force and in1947, the USAF. In WW2 the Army consisted of the AGF-Army Ground Forces, ASF-Army Service Forces and AAF-Army Air Force. George Ude
Jack and Jackie I have been posting the Harlow info you sent me to my FTM. Have found a few errors. But will get with you later about them. What I need now is your Email Addy. My sons recently lost all of my Aol address and it just hit me I lost yours in the process. Cousin Stan Riddle-Brookshier
