There is a Duncan Cemetary near my house but I'm not sure if there is more than one Duncan cemetary.!! Just called Vera, another cousin, and she knows where ALL the cemetaries are and she says I'm right, it is near my house. Geneva's Dad is buried there too. Vera says she don't remember if there is still a stone for her or not but she is there!! Gracie
Actually, while putting a single word in caps is acceptable for emphasis, typing messages in all caps has been defined as "shouting" pretty much back to the early days of the net...... If anyone can find this marriage you will have my undying gratitude. Benjamin Franklin "Frank" BROWN married Sarah Elizabeth SWADLEY somewhere in southwestern Mo, before 1868. They both lived in Greene County, but haven't found their marriage there. Thanks bunches for any help you can give me. Chris

I certainly agree. Be persistent. I was told that a marriage record did not exist in a certain county (not in MO) by: 1. The State Archives 2. The County Clerk 3. One paid researcher 4. One free lookup. Another free lookup person found and sent me the record. It had loads of information in it for me. Jim James R. Truth is wonderful, myth is fun, but here is a case that happened in Missouri where my wonderful grandparents were born. They had 3 children born in Missouri, one died and is buried in Landaker, St. Clair County, MO. cemetery. Also beside him is a headstone for Edna his sister. My g.parents were in Arkansas when Edna was born and she died shortly after birth and is buried in Craighead County, Arkansas, Bowman Cemetery, and I made a picture of headstone, also made one of Missouri headstone. Actually it does happen that families err. Before the family was buried in Landaker they were in Tally Bend Cemetery and Corp of Engineers were going to flood that area so the graves(Supposedly) were moved. I feel sure that someone in my grandmothers family remembered Edna dying and really thought she had died in Missouri. It happens and what seems to be fact is sometimes just human err, and I want to gather as much myth, fact, etc, so maybe I can come out with a ?? good family tree. Happy hunting. Loretta
YOU TELL THEM!!! WHO CARES WHETHER ITS IN CAPS OR small letters or even in Deutsch!!! If the message gets through and understood to at least 1 person who can help you, then you have batted 1000%. Don't worry about those self-important un-righteuos dorks who think you have to be perfect on the net. There is no rules and no cops to write you a ticket for emailing in CAPS!!!!!
Hello all - I am sorry that someone has recieved "hate mail" from our wonderful listers. Karen - I have, and have seen many others, forward messages to interested lists and all have ask that they reply to the sender of the original message. As far as receiving "hate mail", I think that most of us have recieved what we call "flames" at one time or another - on my part it was usually because I didn't think things thru before I wrote the message, however I have not dropped any of the lists I am on, but I did do a lot of apologizing for awhile. We all have bad days - and since we don't know each other personally we need to take into account that another person that we don't know personally can have a bad day also. Carla - Please don't be hurt that someone wouldn't take "documented proof" - there are so many web sites that have lineages - am most of us (and correct me if I am wrong here) like to see the "documented proof" in their own hands - guess thats just the way we are - but that is good in a way, because that means most of us take the information we have gotten via Email (without paper in hand), and look for substantuating information. Something to think about - there are several published books and web sites that list that my father and grandfather were born in TX- No so, however - in doing seaches on the internet, they found that this son and father AQUIRED their SSC card in TX - and yes they did - but on a business trip, my father was born in OK, and his grandfather was born in MO - So you see, investigating more than one sourse is a very good thing. It is truly unfortunate that you have had this experience. Please know that not everyone out there is like that. Don't let these thoughtless people get you down. Take care. Patsy

Dear List, Rather than having a big "to do" over the ladies posting lets try to find out why she has such "pain" and help her. This would be my option but my options are not always popular either. I say as believers of a higher power that is would be the "right" thing to do. I am looking for ANY information or connection to ANY Pearson in Maries or Bates County. Some possible names I am looking for are Lovey, Sherwood, Nancy, or Charles. I would, however, be interested in any Pearson located in EITHER of these 2 counties between 1850 and 1900 since there may be a connection. THANKS, Donna

I'am still looking for my Ggmo MARTHA BUTTS. Born Indiana, Perry County. Mar., Ggfa John Wesley Riddle. He died 1888 Caldwell Co., Mo. Buried New York Cem Caldwell Co., Mo. Also looking for there son William Riddle. Cant recall if born Indiana or Missouri. But he is shown on LandAtlas index for property with his parents in Caldwell Co. I was told by a cousin that he went to Texas and never came back. Martha remarried in 1888 according to census and I do have the marriage info. She married a George Lawson who's parents were from Indiana and Tenn. Believe the father was Indiana and mother was from Tenn. Here again, I was told they later on went to Texas. They could have went to Houston. Martha had a daughter or granddaughter who married Ed McLallen and think he was from Caldwell county and worked for the Houston Chronicle Newspaper. So we have Martha and Geo in Texas. William Riddle Lena (Lina) or perhaps Vina (Riddle) McLallen (McClellan) all in Texas that I need to find Lena & Ed are also from Caldwell Co., Missouri. George Lawson Martha (Butts) Lawson Stan Riddle-Brookshier William Riddle Vena or Lina (Riddle) McLallen Ed McLallen (McClelland)
