"As for Neshoba Co. they won't budge an inch.I forgot, but it may be the Board Of Supervisors who makes this decision for the Chancery Clerk. I will have to ask again. Most all of my Williams Family and descendants were married in Lauderdale, Neshoba and Newton Counties. It is a shame. I was just lucky enough to get an original copy on my gg aunt's from a cousin who had gone to Neshoba Co. when they still let you copy." When researching in Neshoba County go to the library in Philadelphia. They have one of the nicest & most helpful genealogical sections that I have used. Many of the old records from the Courthouse have been moved to this library. The one time I went to Neshoba Clerks office they were very helpful and even suggested the library. I was looking for CSA pension records that day and a black clerk was most interested and helpful. She even requested that if I found what I was looking for at the library that I call back to the office so they would be better able to help future researchers. The librarian met me at the door (also black) and helped me 'dig' out what I was looking for. Maybe it goes to show that most of the races can 'get along' and do not consider it a crime to have CSA veterans for ancestors. George
