Hi Ona, Regarding the book on Yellow Fever epidemics, does it list the names of victims of the disease, and does it cover all of MS? I am particularly interested in finding out if there is a Matthew McCRARY (or McCreary/McCrae, etc.). He died sometime between 1850-1860 and family lore has it that he became very sick and moved away from his wife to live in a shed with one of his sons, probably in Lafayette or Yalobusha, but that is not certain. It might also have been around Tippah. Sorry to be so vague, but we sure don't have much to go on. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide. Harriet
Around 1850 time frame there are some mortality records for some of the counties of MS. That might be a helpful resource for you Wanda ----- Original Message ----- From: <LLora90501@aol.com> To: <MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 05, 2005 12:14 PM Subject: Re: [MISSISSIPPI] yellow fever > Hi Ona, > > Regarding the book on Yellow Fever epidemics, does it list the names of > victims of the disease, and does it cover all of MS? > > I am particularly interested in finding out if there is a Matthew McCRARY (or > McCreary/McCrae, etc.). "DIED OF YELLOW FEVER, 1853", albeit, out of print, is for only 1853, it covers the towns of: Yazoo City, Vicksburg, Warrenton, Port Gibson, Woodville, Fort Adams, and Jackson. Is is a compilation of newspapter listings of the yellow fever dead from the above listed towns. I do NOT know if it has an index. MS Archives has a copy of this book, and will look a name. Sorry that I cannot be of more help. -----Original Message----- From: LLora90501@aol.com [mailto:LLora90501@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, March 05, 2005 10:14 AM To: MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MISSISSIPPI] yellow fever Hi Ona, Regarding the book on Yellow Fever epidemics, does it list the names of victims of the disease, and does it cover all of MS?
