Thanks, Karen. I'm researching my ggrandfather, Walter Toney. He was born in August 1852 in Vicksburg, MS, so he should be about 11 years old in 1870. I'm not sure what his parents' names were. I think his father might have been named John but according to a family Bible, his father died at Gettysburg, during the Civil War. Anything you find would be greatly appreciated. Not much of a clean search...sorry!
