I have a Huldy Catherine Smith, who married Martin Van Buren Baldridge...lived in Carroll County, MS in mid-late 1800's....maybe this is a connection to some of your Smiths, since Fayette Co., AL had a large number of people migrate to Carroll and Attala Counties.
