Jayme, I tried to look these people up but none came up to fit the description. None came up for MS, GA or Ark. I know from experience that not all are indexed, some of mine I have had to scan the census to find them. Were they in MS in 1860? Gladys

Gladys, Thank you for trying. I don't know where they were in 1860. I only know that they were in Georgia in 1850, and Arkansas in 1870. I think Catherine may have died and James remarried Candis. It's conjecture at this point. I have not had luck finding them in Ga or Ark in 1860, so I thought maybe they were crossing over to Arkansas. Thanks again, Gladys. I think you're right - the index missed the family in 1880 and 1900 too, misspelled their name! I guess I'll have to pour over the census the old fashioned way. Jayme
