This is regarding a great cousin that was in prison. Fuller Mabry, African American, in 1930 Sunflower County, MS. 29-April-1930 In parchment state penitentiary. How can I get the records? The prison does not exist anymore I think? Would I write Mississippi Department of Corrections? Anxiously Awaiting Good Reply, Karen (aka Kay)
I don't know whether you can get prison records or not, but just wanted to let you know that the state prison is still very much in existence. It is called Parchman State Penitentiary. Go to the MS State Department of Archives and History http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/ and see if an email will get an answer to how you could obtain the records you want. Patsy
