Ona, thanks to you also for trying to help me find my great grandfather's brother, Benjamin Johnson. I really have no idea which Benjamin Johnson is the right one, but I did find the one you listed below on the Family History Center 1880 census - online. I thought that he was a good possibility because he was born in Alabama, was the right age, and also listed NC and TN as birthplaces of his parents - although they were mixed up, because his father was born in Tennessee and his mother, in North Carolina. Their names, by the way, were Randolph Johnson (born about 1800 in MAYBE Wilson Co., TN) and Elizabeth Ashby (born about 1800 in North Carolina). But this particular Benjamin Johnson definitely matched up the best. I just have no proof of his relationship to my g grandfather, and I don't know what happened to him on the next census, of course, since most of the 1890 censuses were destroyed by fire, I understand. Don't even know if he remained in Oktibbeha Co. or not. Well, I will just have to keep looking. Oh, and the Benjamin Johnson in Newton Co. that you listed, also matched up pretty well. Right age, right birthplace - Alabama. What about his parents' birthplace? Did it tell that?
