He was a 47-year-old bachelor merchant in Oakland on the 1860 Federal Census. Who were his parents? Where was he born? Did he have other family in Yalobusha County? When and where did he marry Sarah Ann Smith? They were parents of my grandmother, Lucy Ann Ellis, born 19 November 1862 in Yalobusha County. J. M. Ellis was killed in battle while serving in Co.
