    3. Hi Everyone: I have been reading some of the archive records. Decided to make this my base since I have contacts to numerous counties in Ms. and because I am kin to just about everyone in S. Ms. one way or the other. Some of you know me, and that I had to take time off to do some college work. Yes I am the guy with a huge data base. Still have another month of college work. But after that I will have some time to devote to look ups etc. If I join (I already did) this list, it may bring others in who may help all of you also. So exspect others to look for me here once they know I am back doing my research on my MS lines and updating my data bases. A special note of interest for you guys, is that I am the Civil War buff guy too...So if grandpa was in the War, maybe I can help find him and put you on the right track this way. Another note, I have been learning a lot of stuff in college, in my Computer Science field. So I also have some understanding in this area also. Let's see, for those that never heard of me, I am married to THE SNAKE, and have children and grandkids all living with me. YES I am old guy went back to college. TRY IT before you knock it. Lots of animals here cats and dogs and my dog even has his own cat. Don't ask about that...I am embarrassed as is. Just shaking my head over that genealogy mess to come....(((((( ..))))) " Your turn to say hello. And tell me some surnames (MS) you are interrested in finding out more about. Give ya my favorites later. SIN or ED same guy

    3. Ed,You sound like a fantastic fellow. Your menagerie alone is worth tickets to see. My Mississippi search is for a very interesting fellow named Robert Ashley(and brother Chester). Robert born in S.C.,married Sarah Whitmel Harrington, Shows up in 1795 land records in Bayou Pierre,Claiborne County,Miss. Was nephew by marriage of Gen Elijah Clark, accompanied Phillip Nolan to Texas in Nolan's aborted land grab. Nolan was killed but Robert escaped. Accompanied Aaron Burr on his flight from the law when he was captured and put on trial. Robert escaped, judgement day on that one too. Evereything I know about him I read in Miss. History accounts. One cousin gave me a list of Ashleys.swearing they were all my ancestors. Have found nothing about descendants so. I know that all of my father's family of ashleys were in Mississippi by 1800 Hope this isn't too much to download at one setting. Robert was certainly an interesting person, adventurer? Shirley Ashley Honore.' P.S. Is SIN an acronym or a personal statement? Thanks for your time. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edward Hall" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 15, 2004 12:19 PM Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] ED aka Sin is Back > Hi Everyone: > > I have been reading some of the archive records. 3. Hi, Ted, I don't know how big a town/city Lanett, AL is, but I was wondering if you happen to know a John Hamner in Lanett? We went to college together, graduated the same year - 1959 - Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. If so, how are he and his wife doing? I saw them back in 1999 at our 40th class reunion. Thanks for your response. 3. Ted: Check with Enterprise Journal and other papers and tell me what you come up with. I think you will find something that way. It may be you checked the wrong paper. Some folks use more than one paper to list an obit. Especially if they were born in one place, lived a long time in another place and died in yet another place. See what I mean? 1. [MISSISSIPPI] Smith/Smythe & McCrary
    2. Jeri Ziglar
    3. Hi Ed/Sin, Holy cow, you sure know how to generate some enthusiasm on this board! Being a relatively new subscriber, I missed your earlier posts, but very much look forward to your future contributions. I see that one of your lines is Smith. My gg grandmother Eliza Smith/Smythe, b. 1803 in SC (probably near York Co.), was the daughter of James Smith/Smythe, a Patriot ancestor who was b. c. 1759 in PA, and Nannie Nair Hunt. Eliza married Matthew McCrary, b. 1798 in SC, in St. Clair Co., AL in 1822. Matthew and Eliza remained in AL for about 18 years as most of their children were born there. Where in AL remains to be seen as there is another Matthew McCrary -- also b. 1798 in SC and well documented -- who lived in Lawrence Co., AL that continues to complicate our research! Matthew & Eliza finally resurface in Tippah Co., MS on the 1850 census. Eliza is enumerated (sans Matthew) in the home of one of her sons in the 1860 Charleston, Tallahatchie census. We believe Matthew died between 1854-56 based on church and tax records, but we don't know where. To further complicate matters, the other Matthew McCrary died in 1855, smack dab in the middle of our estimated window! Eliza was last enumerated in the Water Valley, Yalobusha Co., MS 1870 census. Bottom line, we would like to find out places/dates of death, and where they both are buried. Lastly, many descendents of one of Eliza's brothers settled in Kosciusko, Attala Co., MS. Do either of these individuals or their families tie into your lines? Or anyone else's? Thanks so very much.
