    1. [MISSISSIPPI] Alice Leonard Elijah J. Dooley
    2. Everette h Carr
    3. -- Alice, I need to make a couple of corrections to my earlier message. Elijah was born in Alabama, not Mississippi. Also, the nearest Post Office in Mississippi shown on the census return is Arkabutta, not Arkabutler. Sorry! Everette Carr --------- Forwarded Message --------- DATE: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 14:17:29 From: "Everette h Carr" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: Alice, I have good news and bad news. The bad news first: The E. L. Dooley that Sin located in the CSA is probably not your E. Dooley. The good news: I located Elijah J. Dooley, age 30, a farmer born in Mississippi, in the 1870 census. He was living in DeSoto County, Mississippi (Township 5 Range 9) and the Post Office was listed as Arkabutler. With him were his wife Emily, age 20, born Miss and their 8 month old child, Susan who was also born in Miss. Now you have a name and a county in Mississippi so that you can begin to focus your research on a specific area. Good Luck! Everette Carr --------- Original Message --------- DATE: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 10:35:34 From: "Alice Leonard" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sin, Thank you so much for this information, now if I could only find out his full name, I'd be elated lol. This man has had me hitting the brick wall for a long time now lol. I'm not able to got to the archives in MS to do any research, I live in NY and so all my searching is done via the web, I keep hoping that maybe someone will see the name and it will be part of their line. I have no idea what county they lived in so finding them on any of the census records between 1850 and 1870 is next to impossible. I know that E. Dooley's wife Emma/Emily was in Arkansas by 1880 with the 3 children, Susan, William and Frank. So I'm assuming that E Dooley must have died between 1870 & 1880. The surnames I'm researching are: DOOLEY and McNEELEY from Ms, VANDERGRIFT, VANDERGRIFF from Tn and Ar. Again, thank you so much for your help.
