Susan, I have a "BAUMGARTNER" LA line too. My 5th gr grandmother was Margerite Baumgartner dit Panquerne/Pankerne....The name for most part of this family in New Orleans became Pankerne.... My cousin, Janice Deitch Young wrote a book on my maternal grandmothers line, BARROSSE and she has compiled in her book some really great information on the various lines of this New Orleans (French for most part) family including that of our Baumgartner/Pankerne (German) line.
