Yes the Little Pee Dee area of SC is in the vicinity of the Winyaw area. There is a little Pee Dee river and an upper Pee Dee river. They are primarily in Marion County and on into North Carolina. The Winyaw area is named for an indian tribe in that area. I have researched extensively in the area looking for my GODBOLD families. Some of them were found to "have moved west" in Franklin County, Mississippi. I have four books of extracted probate records and some land records. If you wish to contact me directly I will do some research in my books. I do not think we want to diverge from the Mississippi research, however. My MS research is in Choctaw County and Webster County (formerly Sumner County). Names are JONES, SEALY, WRIGHT, PARHAM, etc. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, February 16, 2004 1:33 PM Subject: Re: [MISSISSIPPI] Harold Fisher names >To Ona, > >Sorry I could not seem to contact you personally. > >Is the LITTLE PEE DEE Area of SC in the same vacinity as the WINYAW Area? >There were a large number of GIBSONS in the latter area. I have "A Partial Genealogy of John Godbold of South Carolina" by Mavis and John Mesick, Natchez, MS ... Sept 1966 There are Franklin families in this history, but no index. What are some of the names you are looking for ? Patsy
Patsy: In this book is there any mention of the Newsom, Dearman, Brigman or Creel families who lived near the Godbolds in SC? Later a Godbold family is living in the Jones County, MS area. Have the hopes that the Godbolds in their SC documents may have had as witnesses or references any of the above families. Tree Mother "She is insane, of course.
