    3. Ed or Sin, My name is Sandra and I live in NEOhio I started my genealogy chart when I was a senior in High School as a Home Ec project. The information I got was from my grandmother.I was amaised that she didn't even know most of the names of her family. She knew tham by their nicknames only. I again started my genealogy in 1999 after a family re-union.It is then that I learned how to obtain the correct legal information and documents to back the information up. Last year I learned that I have a Confederate/Union relative.I'll explaine: My maternal grandmother never knew her grandparents as they were already dead. She couldn't give me any information so from documents I learned that my gt gt grandfather was Francis (Frank) M. Howard. I was told he was in the civil war so I sent for his pension papers.I learned that he was born in Jackson Cty MS. I find no referance of him in that area.I then found another family member that is searching for him also. She told me that he searved as a Confederate in tha Civil War.Family 'lore stated that he started with the Confederates and then swam the MS River and came to Ohio and joined the Union. His souther family disowned him.It is told that his southern family (Howard)was very well off. As I stated I can not find any Howard's in Jackson Cty MS.But from the South there are many Franics M Howard's and many F M Howard's. How can I pursue this brick wall further? Also The family 'lore states we have Native American blood (Cheerokee and Blackfoot) but we do not know which surname it is in.I also search the surnames of: BLACK-ENGLISH-GRAY-HOWARD-PITCHFORD-SHREVE-STREET(s) Francis M Howard Born Jackson Cty Ms (Per Union Pension Rec) abt 1839 Married 1866 Mercer Cty Ohio Thanks, Sandra NEOhio Died 1869 Mercer Cty Ohio ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edward Hall" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 15, 2004 3:19 PM Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] ED aka Sin is Back > Hi Everyone: > > I have been reading some of the archive records.
