    3. Folks: This is what it is all about. Each of us doing our bit to help, and one day we will have it all done. I take no special credit, cause I learned at the elbows of some very good genealogists. I will not say their individual names cause I know that would be their wish. Cause we are all here to help each other. and I am glad my data bases are helping. I wish I had someone to take my place when my time comes to stop; and before that happens, I will back everything up and send it off to whoever I can to see it continue. Thanks for the compliments, but I take them for those that took time to teach me. Temples who died in a Civil War hospital. He is looking for his burial place. I am going to refer to my notes even though I think I have the information memorized. Here is one of his postings to this message board. > He is Pvt. Needham H. ( N. H. ) Temples > Co. I thought I could help by looking into some records at the Clayton Library namely the following: > > FINAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSIONER APPOINTED TO CONTINUE WORK OF LOCATING AND MARKING > GRAVES OF CONFEDERATE DEAD, 1861-1865 > Cabinet: C60 Drawer: D05 Roll: ROLL #92 ID: M-0918 > Format: FILM Coverage: CIVIL WAR Total: 01 Dates: 1861-1865 > Box Title: REGISTER OF CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS, SAILORS & CITIZENS WHO DIED IN FEDERAL > > Due to more than one illness in my family I have yet to make the time. I wondered if you knew of these records at the Clayton Library and if you had were they useful to you? I have tried following his regiment in their battles and the date of his death. But not knowing how long he was in the hospital prior to death gives a bigger window. I believe he would have been engaged in the Battle of Corinth or Iuka. There was a college in Corinth that was turned into a temporary hospital. And the Corinth National Cemetery in the vicinity does not include N H Temples name. With records of his death from the hospital, I found it hard to believe that he would be buried in an unmarked grave. I couldn't find information that would have me believe that there was a cemetery where the College/Hospital was located. No evidence that the family received the body to be placed in his hometown area of Clark County, MS either. > I started this letter just after I seen your posting, it got late and I saved it for another time. Tonight I looked through the mailing list and see your reputation proceeds you. I had no idea you would get so many inquiries. I am sorry to add to the list. Though my motives are purely unselfish. For this query is for another patient man with a long awaited unanswered question. I thank you so much for your consideration and I wish I could return the favor to you directly. However I do believe what comes around goes around and truly hope somehow your generosity is returned ten fold. > > > > "Tip Toe through the tullips, careful not to trip over the daisies, only to stop and smell the roses." > -Briana Griffin Etie > > > ==== MISSISSIPPI Mailing List ==== > Visit the Mississippi-L Website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mississi > where you can both SUBSCRIBE and UNSUBSCRIBE with a click of the mouse. > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
