    3. The Rootsweb Review (monthly newsletter) had an article on this about four months ago...In June, I sent out an appeal to this list and six others for letters to Congress; even gave the addresses. Apparently no one paid any attention...We needed a firestorm of letters and e-mail, maybe 200,000 but now I fear it may be too late... No one acts UNLESS THEY are being hurt...Funny, some folks get all excited over some Chain-letter or Virus-Hoax, but cannot compose a simple e-mail of Protest to their Congressman and Senators... It is nice to post what you have to the SSDI and wherever else, but very few people want the same SS-5 forms, only the direct descendants since the 1930's when SSA was enacted. 3. Gerald: I have picked up the form letter sent out and mailed it to the list I administer with the advice that everyone express their own feelings in their own words. I hope all administrators and others will get this ball rolling and we will come up with more than 200,000 letters and emails of protest. Does anyone have an email address for this "person". Letters might prove more effective since email can be blocked. So let's invest our last zinc pennies in a 34Cent stamp and let our voices be heard. Remember we Revoluted once about taxation and we can now protest like H---- because it is Constitutionally our right. Go For It!!!!! Tree Mother Who said "I am mad as Hell?" That can be our battle cry too. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gerald Gieger <giegerg@hotmail.com> To: <MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2001 5:00 AM Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] Re: SSDI and SS-5 price increase > The Rootsweb Review (monthly newsletter) had an article on this about four > months ago...In June, I sent out an appeal to this list and six others for > letters to Congress; even gave the addresses. > > Apparently no one paid any attention...We needed a firestorm of letters and > e-mail, maybe 200,000 but now I fear it may be too late... > > No one acts UNLESS THEY are being hurt...Funny, some folks get all excited > over some Chain-letter or Virus-Hoax, but cannot compose a simple e-mail of > Protest to their Congressman and Senators... > > It is nice to post what you have to the SSDI and wherever else, but very few > people want the same SS-5 forms, only the direct descendants since the > 1930's when SSA was enacted. > > Gerry > > > >From: "Tina Hall" <res00waz@gte.net> > >To: MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com > >Subject: FW: [MISSISSIPPI] Re: SSDI > >Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2001 14:23:19 -0700 > > > >Fill out the post-it note on the Rootsweb site where they have the SSDI. > >I have posted on each of mine that I have a copy and that person is my > >relative and I leave my web site URL, too.
