I just want to let everyone know that I received copies of an SS-5, the original request for a SS#. Along with the copies I was sent a notification that the fees were increasing substantially for this service as of July 1, 2001. I just received the notice in yesterday's mail. What used to cost $7.00 now will cost a whopping $27.00 even if you provide the SS#! There were other fee increases as well. The lowest fee, if I'm not mistaken, is $15.00 (I don't have the notice in front of me right now.) At these prices, the SSDI should list if the person is male or female and list their ethnicity. This should have been done years ago. Now that they are charging these exorbitant fees, the least they can do is make it easier for us NOT to order the wrong information. That's my two cents worth. Anyone else have a comment on this? Belvery Clark
