    3. Susan, Thank you so much for your reply. I wonder if you could clarify a couple of things for me. The John Scott I am researching was married to a full blood Choctaw woman and by 1830 they had 3 children. According to the 1831 Choctaw Armstrong Census they were living on Leaf River. I was told that the 1830 Federal Census shows him to be alone--could it be that the census taker just took the information for John and because his wife and children were Indian they were omitted form the record? I know that some of the early census taker were instructed not to enumerate the Indians and wonder if that might be what happened in this case. Another thing, the area in Covington County in which this John Scott of the 1830 Census was living, would be in the area the Choctaws had given up years before that 1830 Federal Census--were there still Choctaw Indians still living in that area who would have been in the 1831 Choctaw Armstrong Census taken in 1831? In the 1831 Armstrong Census, John Scott is living next to Joseph Fisher. From what Dawn said on Tuesday the John Scott on the 1830 Federal Census is also living next to Joseph Fisher. I don't know what to make of this. Lola Laurel-Jones County Library wrote: > In reply to your question of the 1830 Census of Covington County, MS.
