A few years ago I was renewing my passport and looked at my original birth certificate. It was so ratty looking that it did not even look like it was certified. I sent for a new one to the Mississippi state offices of vital stats, etc. They turned me down - I had not sent enough information. I did have birth and death certificates for both of my parents so I copied those items and repeated my request. I got my new and improved cerified birth certificate. If you have any such doccumentation to show a kinship you might copy it and request the information again.
