Yes I am still using this OLD program, all of a sudden when I generate a web page the program makes links with a lower case i when the referral should be to upper case I. How do I get into the code instructions to correct this? http://personal.ayrix.net/~savage1/
To all you wonderful people who have HELPED ME or offered suggestions in my Genealogy quest this past year, I Say "THANK YOU" May God Bless You and you continue to Help others as You have Helped me. Like others, I still have a Civil War Soldier that is lost and may never be found, and again I say Thank You for your help in trying to find him. God Bless Thomas Temple
Thomas, 1. I would first try the local town municipality or county supervisor to determine who the sexton or caretaker is for that particular cemetery..... 2. Sometimes the MDH has knowledge of this information in there records..... 3. Is there a church connected with this cemetery? Try the elders of that church... 4. Is there a SCV unit out of Marshall County...they may have knowledge of the sexton or caretaker... r/Steven ........................................... Sounds Great. How do I start to look for the Secton of the Cemetery. I have not heard of that title before Thomas
Tom, Since alot of cemetery publications are generated by wonderful folks who will walk a cemetery transcribing headstones, you should try finding the sexton of this cemetery who might hold the original cemetery index cards from the 1860's burials. You might be surprised. After years of research, I found my way to the sexton of the Union Cemetery in Leesburg who found in his records some 'index cards' from 1861 noting the burial of my great great uncle who died, according to his CSR records, in a Leesburg hospital in November 1861. No headstone exists today as the original wooden crosses were most likely used for firewood, or eventually succumbed to the elements. With him are about 200 Mississippi patriots who fell to the horrors of the War and disease. My search, like yours, was very frustrating until I found this fine young man who made this old man cry. My research was assisted, among many, by those fine folks over at the MSCWMB that you use. Don't give up... See if you can find where the William Temples Family of Jones county Mississippi came from. The appear on the Jones County 1850 and 1860 census but cannot find them anywhere before that time. Happy Holdiays Thomas
The LangfordLankfords were from Georgia and migrated to Mississippi about 1816. The Goynes were also from Georgia and migrated to Spanish West Florida about 1803. There was no connection between these two families prior to marriages of other families into which both Goynes and Langfords married creating my lineage. Interestingly both family groups were Virginians and lived in South Carolina during the Rev. War. My intent was to say that Mr. Vail was too old to be required to serve. That's not to say that many men that age and older didn't serve, just that they were past the age of conscription. I am not sure of the man's name. He married a daughter of Elleby Langford/Lankford in Greene County. He is perhaps James Palmer??? Lack of Greene County documents have stymied this research. He was named in a document dividing Elleby's estate about 1878. Tree Mother "She is insane, of course. The family history has become a mania for her." Just scroll down a few inches & you will see sites to check out with information. I did not even look at Mississippi, but changed the state to Louisiana & saw several places to look. Sometimes websites need financial help to pay for their space & will include sponsors. That first search window is for Ancestry.com, which does have some great free things to look at. But just scroll down a bit to see the Mississippi or any other state places to search. Joyce in Louisiana
