I didn't make note of any of these names because I wasn't searching them but I did see some. Also, look in Tate County. They have many Wests. Those counties are next to LaFayette and you may find them there. Sandra

    3. Brett, Kerry, et al The 1870 Census for Red River County shows Annetta West or something to that effect (I don't have the copy to look at) in the household of Mrs. Mary West. She is a year or so older than A.M...It also lists Zora Belle as Missouri Belle but I think the Census-taker heard her say MISS Zora Belle and wrote down Missouri. Her name was Zora Belle. The 1880 Census doesn't show Anne, but I think she married by then, and had a child, who WAS listed, and the last name starts with an "S" Give me a few days to cogitate and I will recall that last name...probably a grandson... The two Lindsey children are listed on 1870 and beyond...I have a copy of a letter which Cousin Naomi (West) McDonald (Your Great Uncle Edgar's daughter) wrote to your Great Aunt Nell Hull, wherein she mentions having met Eugene Lindsey in San Angelo, and going to visit Uncle Ben West, Shadrach's youngest son...Naomi died a couple of years ago... You are right, Shadrach's father was William Nelson West...slip of my pen...uh fingers, that is... This is all by memory, but mostly correct... Have a great day... >From: "Kerry West" <kerry@WINSYSTEMS.COM> >Reply-To: Kerry West <kerry@winsystems.com> >To: "Brett West" <bonnieblue@iname.com> >CC: giegerg@hotmail.com >Subject: Re: Fw: [MISSISSIPPI] WEST Family of TN and MS >Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 16:20:43 -0600 > > >Me too. 3. At least two of the 8 or 9 sons of Shadrach Nelson and Penelope (Moody) West of Wayne County, MS were given the name James; James Wilson West, was a Baptist circuit Preacher who first married Mary Jane Hough, daughter of Zeno and Charlotte (Watts) Hough of Smith County, MS. After Aunt Mary's death, he married her younger sister, Aunt Charlotte Hough, but she died childless within a year or two after their marriage; Then, he married twice more, and fathered at least 23 identified liveborn children by his three wives...He favored the name Wilson West. James Nelson West, who married Mary Magdalene Gieger, daughter of Jessie and Tobitha (Martin) Gieger of Covington County. He was K-I-A at Baker's Creek in 1863 during the Siege of Vicksburg...Later in 1863, widowed Aunt Mary married a John Lindsey in Caldwell Parrish, LA, however he died before 1870, and she migrated to Red River County, TX with her children, Ann, Mozette, and Zora Belle West, and Benjamin and Eugene Lindsey...Aunt Mary died in Detroit, TX ca 1919. In addition, a grandson, James "Jim" West was the son of George Washington West, second son of Shadrach and Penelope...Jim was also a Baptist Preacher and married Jennie Coffman, daughter of James and Jane (Jarrell) Coffman of Red River County, TX. Jim and Aunt Jennie moved back to Wayne County, MS, where they are both buried...Their daughter Ruby Odessa (West) Bishop lives in a Natchez retirement home, and is quite active at 90+. >From: "Mary Hill" <hillsters@bwoodtx.com> >To: MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MISSISSIPPI] WEST Family of TN and MS >Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 10:30:19 -0600 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from [63.92.80.32] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id >MHotMailBC78EAC000C9D82197A83F5C502008000; Wed Mar 14 08:43:45 2001 >Received: (from slist@localhost)by lists2.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) id >f2EGaYC09485;Wed, 14 Mar 2001 09:36:34 -0700 >From MISSISSIPPI-L-request@rootsweb.com Wed Mar 14 08:44:44 2001 >Resent-Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 09:36:34 -0700 >X-Original-Sender: hillsters@bwoodtx.com Wed Mar 14 09:36:32 2001 >Message-ID: <006c01c0aca4$0fca3ce0$bd7a403f@hillsters> >Old-To: <TENNESSEE-L-request@rootsweb.com>, <MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com> >X-Priority: 3 >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200 >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 >Resent-Message-ID: <0T1fX.A.BUC.R45r6@lists2.rootsweb.com> >Resent-From: MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com >X-Mailing-List: <MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com> archive/latest/240 >X-Loop: MISSISSIPPI-L@rootsweb.com >Precedence: list >Resent-Sender: MISSISSIPPI-L-request@rootsweb.com > >Reposting in the event new reseracher is out there. > >Searching for James WEST, born 1798 in SC; died June 5, 1861 in Lafayette >Cty, MS. 1. [MISSISSIPPI] Robinson & Williams
    2. I have posted before, but had no luck connecting, so I will try again. Elizabeth Robinson was born March 23, 1835, somewhere in Mississippi. Henderson G. Williams was born April 22, 1832, somewhere in North Carolina. They are first found in the 1860 census of Pickens County, Alabama, where they lived very near the AL / MS border. They married around 1853. In 1860 they have three children. Who are the parents and siblings of Elizabeth Robinson? Who are the parents and siblings of Henderson (Henry) G. Williams? Any clues appreciated. Larry

James married #1 unknown and had five children (names unknown). He married #2 Sarah Jane (Jincy) TAYLOR, and had five children. Sarah Jane (Jincy) TAYLOR, born Abt. 1814 in GA. She was the daughter Uriah TAYLOR and Nancy L. TUCKER. Before her marriage to James WEST, she married Joel TUCKER August 25, 1833 in Stewart Co. GA, and had five children. Four of Joel and Jane's children never married and Uriah is believed to have died in the Civil War. Does anyone have any info on Joel TUCKER as to who his parents are? James WEST settled in MS. His son, James Cody WEST, said that his father grew up in TN. I believe that James WEST in Wayne Co. is my James WEST. MS tax list has the following people. Some of these people listed in the MS tax list were also in Wayne Co. TN. Jacob LEE as living by James WEST in 1830 Wayne Co. TN Census, so I believe that these people are connected in some way through marriage. Jacob LEE SE 31-10-10 2-16-1839 Chain carriers: John WARDIN, James WEST (The Wardin is a misprint - it has to be John HARDIN) Zachariah ALLEN NE 31-10-10 2-16-1839 Chain carriers: John HARDEN, James WEST James WEST NW 28-10-10 8-5-1841 Chain carriers: Simeon WEST, Josiah LINDSEY Simon H. Does anyone has any info on these people or have a West marriage show up in any of these names. One clue is there is a John LINDSEY that married an Elizabeth WEST who could possibly be related to the Josiah LINDSEY that shows up in the Wayne Co. Tax List. Elizabeth would most like be an aunt to James WEST if they are related giving the ages. If any of these names look familiar to anyone, please notify me at hillsters@bwoodtx.com I would love to find a connection. Best Regards, Mary
