    1. [MISSISSIPPI] Harvey's Scouts CSA
    2. As a part of my Civil War in Mississippi site, I have added the roster of Harvey's Scouts. This elite unit was formed in Madison County and there is some additional information on the unit on The USGenWeb Project site for Madison County that includes photos of some of the survivors. I am also reprinting the history of the unit, "A Sketch of Harvey's Scouts". The Civil War in Mississippi site is located at http://www.researchonline.net/mscw and the URL for the Harvey's Scouts page is http://www.researchonline.net/mscw/unit216.htm John Rigdon

    2. Many, many thanks to everyone who helped me on my first trip to the MS Archives. Without a doubt the directions were simple and the Hampton Inn was very convenient. The museum next door was informative and interesting. Once again, it was a fascinating trip and I hope to go back in the near future. 1. [MISSISSIPPI] Re: Scranton, MS
    2. Ethel S.
    3. Thank you for the history on Scranton, MS. It is a very warm and informative article. Now if I can find out the brides name and more on her family. She was a native of Scranton, and she married Alexander C. Gordon. He was 30 years old in 1884, and Jenny, his wife was 23 at the time of her death, in 1883. At that time they were living in Calcasieu Parish, LA. I am researching Gordons, as my gr. grandfather Thomas Jefferson Gordon is a very illusive fellow.

    1. [MISSISSIPPI] MOFFETTS
    2. I'm looking for any information on a MOFFETT family. I have very little information. A female MOFFETT who was born in MISSISSIPPI married a RUBIN HERRING (born in Florida). They had at least one daughter. Her name was ADA IDELL HERRING and she was born in LOUISIANA. Ada, my great grandmother, was living in Texas by 1910. Thanks, Shannon Dallas, TX

    2. Ethel S.
    3. I am interested in searching for a marriage license for the period of 1882/83 in then Scranton, MS. Anyone know where that would be in this present day? The bride was Jennie ?--married Alexander C. Gordon; they then came to live in Calcasieu Parish, LA, where he had gotten a homestead from the government. She died a year after the wedding. I would like to find out the bride's maiden name, and perhaps something on her parents, and his. Thanks, Ethel.

    3. Jackson County MS was formed in 1801, so that is a possibility. Major cities in Jackson County are Pascagoula, Moss Point and Ocean Springs. I believe Pascagoula is the county seat. 1. [MISSISSIPPI] Need Census Lookup 1880
    2. Hello. Is there anyone who can do a census lookup for Mississippi 1880? I'm looking for Mollie Kinney. She could also be listed as Mary Kinney. She was born abt 1875, so I'm looking for her as a child, in order to try and find her parents names and siblings. She ended up in Holmes Co, but I don't think she was born there. If anyone can help, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks. Sue

    1. [MISSISSIPPI] Mary McMillan
    2. Can someone help with a lookup for a Mary McMillan. I know she lived in Mt. Olive, Covington, MS. All I know about Mary is that she was born Sept. 12, 1908 and died Sept. 8, 1929. My assumption is she died in Mt. Olive, and probably was born there. She never married, but had one son name A.W. McMillan. If someone is willing to do a lookup for Mary's birth and death certificates, please email me privately. 2. Gary
    3. I just finished 10 more census spreadsheets, this time covering the states of New York, Kansas, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin. There are now 26 different spreadsheets to download free from my website at http://censustools.com to let you electronically organize your census data from the U.S. federal (1790-1920), Canada (1851-1901), England (1841-1819), Ireland (1821-1911), Scotland (1841-1891), Kansas (1865-1925), Massachusetts (1855-1865), New York (1825-1925) and Wisconsin (1836-1905). Each spreadsheet has worksheets for each applicable census year, formatted to match the original microfilmed records. The New York state spreadsheet also has a page for the 1890 NY City police census. Help yourself! Gary __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
