Hi Listers This is not a commercial, really, I need your help, (and maybe you can help yourself and USGenWeb Archives ) The publishing Company below offers two pricing plans, one very expensive and one very reasonable. However when I go to the counties I am genealogically interested in, I find that few, and often zero people are on the "wait list" for that county/year (at the very reasonable price) Please check out the prices and if you think they are reasonable, I would very much appreciate it if you put your name on the wait list. S-K promises not to share your address and to allow you to change your mind before they "burn" your CD The county/years that I am interested in are: Union Co., Arkansas, 1900, 1910 Union Co., South Carolina 1810, 1820 Newberry Co., SC 1810, 1820 Lauderdale Co., ALabama 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840 Monroe Co., Mississippi 1850, 1860 Desoto Co., MS 1850, 1860, 1870 Tate Co., MS 1880, 1890 Marshall Co., MS 1870 Panola Co., MS 1870, 1880, 1890 I am including a couple of other messages to show that there is other interest in census' Thanks a bunch, "______________________________ -------------------- X-Message: #3 Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 11:44:05 -0500 From: "alltel" <properties@alltel.net> To: AFHA-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <003101c0c438$f442b900$55fd66a6@dennis> Subject: [AFHA] Arkansas census on CD's Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Can anyone tell me where I can buy the Franklin Co., AR. census 1860 ~ 1900 on CD's Thank you, Vicky ______________________________ -------------------- X-Message: #4 Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 18:56:42 EDT From: Hstryhntr2@aol.com To: AFHA-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <42.136f141d.2808de2a@aol.com> Subject: Re: [AFHA] Arkansas census on CD's Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Disposition: Inline In a message dated 4/13/01 11:33:48 AM Central Daylight Time, properties@alltel.net writes: > Can anyone tell me where I can buy the Franklin Co., AR. census 1860 ~ 1900 > on CD's > Thank you, Vicky I don't know if they have what you are looking for or not, but the best I have bought have been from S-K Publications. Another success story!! I don't think I wrote to the Johnson list about my finding out more about my great grandfather, Joseph Abner Johnson. I finally broke down and hired Hazle Boss Neet of Pontotoc, MS to find a marriage certificate for me that I had heard about. I wanted to see it in person. Several years ago, another researcher had told me about three marriages in Pontotoc Co. that might possibly fit my great grandparents. One was a "Joab" Johnson and a Mary "M." Brown. They married in 1858. Right away, I thought that it couldn't be my g grandparents because my g grandfather was a Joseph Abner Johnson and my g grandmother was Mary Undine Brown so that her middle initial had to be a "U", of course. But the timeframe for their marriage was the right one. Then I began to think that the "Joab" could have been an abbreviation for Joseph Abner and that in the old-fashioned handwriting, that the middle initial for Mary could have been misinterpreted as an "M", rather than a "U". Now, the story in my family was that two Johnson brothers had left Pontotoc Co. and had gone south to Neshoba Co., MS. So I definitely was looking in Pontotoc Co. for awhile. When Hazle sent me the certificate, sure enough the "M" was definitely a "U". Mary's name was written in three places and definitely it was a "U". So now, I am positive that these were, in fact, MY great grandparents. Now because of that, I know who Joseph's parents were. They are listed on the 1850 Pontotoc Co. census and the "Joab" listed is also the right age to be my Joseph Abner. His parents were Randolph and Elizabeth (Ashby) Johnson who had moved there from Jefferson Co., Alabama and had married there. Randolph was apparently born in Tennessee ( Wilson Co., I believe) and recently another researcher told me that she believes a DUNCAN JOHNSON was Randolph's father. Does anybody have anything on a DUNCAN JOHNSON. I did find him on the 1804 Wilson Co., TN Tax List. Thanks for any help on Duncan. Sue Howard P.S. Sorry about the length of this. Just had to tell it! Hi Patrice, Here are the Jewell's that I found in the 1860 MS Census: Collingwood Jewell, Pike Co, page 343 James Jewell, Yalobusha Co, page 808 James and Nancy Jewell, Choctow Co., page 328-29 Thomas Jewell, Marshall Co., page 146 I checked to see if there were any Daniel's enumerated with any of these and didn't find any. I am sorry that I couldn't help in that area, but perhaps one of these names rings a bell? I also looked for Pinta (under Lennox and under Jewell) with no success. Hi Jimmy, My G-grandfather, Nathaniel Thomas GILES, was in the IOOF. I have 2 certificates (receipts): Independent Order of Odd Fellows to N. T. Giles from Dixie Lodge No. 208 I.O.O.F. of Sanford Jurisdiction of Miss. Paid $1.20 on Sept. 20, 1905 & $1.60 on May 16, 1906. I wrote to The Sovereign Grand Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and they gave me a mailing address in Coila, MS of their Secretary for Mississippi, Ed. Muchow. (He's also the City Manager of Greenwood, MS.) I wrote to him several times but there was never a reply. Does anyone have a clue to the family of the following WRIGHTS??? Ellen WRIGHT b. 1825 in Alabama, married in 1844 in Lauderdale Co, MS to Pleasant HAIGWOOD. In the 1850 census of Kemper Co., MS her brother, Alfred WRIGHT b. 1830 in AL is living in their household. Possibly another sister is the Parthena WRIGHT who married Alexander Tinen in Lauderdale Co., MS in 1845. Some believe that this same Parthena b. 1828 may be spouse of Michael HAIGWOOD in the 1860 Smith Co., MS census.
