Hello List, On the 1850 census for Copiah County, I have found my gggg grandfather Malachi Trafton and family....he was listed with his occupation as farmer...... but where it has val. it has P.L. I was just wondering what the P.L. stood for...probably something obvious I'm overlooking, but wondered if anyone knew. 3. Thanks, Karen. I'm researching my ggrandfather, Walter Toney. He was born in August 1852 in Vicksburg, MS, so he should be about 11 years old in 1870. I'm not sure what his parents' names were. I think his father might have been named John but according to a family Bible, his father died at Gettysburg, during the Civil War. Anything you find would be greatly appreciated. Not much of a clean search...sorry! 3. I didn't see the original request, but looking at the indices at Ancestry.com and using Simon Taylor (Instead of Simeon), I found one in Hinds co. in 1870. It was the only hit I got. He is on page 591 and it states he is in the Jackson P.O. area. hope that helps some. I didn't see any marriage records for him. Under either spelling. 1. [MISSISSIPPI] CREEL, DEARMAN, LORIO, QUINN, DEIBEL, NOESSER, SIEBERT, REEB, NICHOLAS
    2. Hello, my cousin is looking for info on her family, any info would be great. Thanks. PLEASE only reply to her: Emma Messinger <EAMessinger@bigfoot.com> Posted on: LORIO Queries http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/l/o/LORIO/queries/3 Surname: LORIO, CREEL, DEARMAN, QUINN, APFFEL, NOESSER, SIEBERT, REEB, NICHOLAS ------------------------- Am in need of help or suggestions on researching my ggrandparents, ANTHONY LORIO and his wife ELLEN QUINN who were the parents of my grandmother, MARY ANNA LORIO who was born in Louisiana (don't know which parish) on July 21, 1862. The only information I have on her parents, ANTHONY LORIO snd ELLEN QUINN was that which was given on MARY ANNA LORIO CREEL's death certificate and I don't know who the informant was) ANTHONY LORIO-father, born in Italy and ELLEN QUINN- mother born in Ireland. No other information is known except that someone at a reunion said they heard that they were two immigrants who were alone when they entered this country (probably in New Orleans) so they got married. I have no idea when they came to this country nor which year. Since my grandmother, MARY ANNA LORIO was born in Louisiana in 1862, I assume they married in Louisiana and settled somewhere nearby New Orleans if they entered this country there. I don't know if she was the first child nor how many children they had. So, they could have entered in early 1860s or before then. They were Catholic but I doubt they were married in a church. I have not found them in a Louisiana census. I have looked in surrounding parishes of New Orleans but never found them but I could have looked at wrong parishes. When my grandmother, MARY ANNA LORIO married my grandfather, ALBERT CHARLES CREEL, she married him in Harrison County, Mississippi on July 19, 1879. The only record of this I have found is the Marriage Bond and it only shows that she is from Louisiana, not the parish or town, nor does it give anything about her parents. Have been unable to secure any other documents from Mississippi although I have tried. Some information on MARY ANNA LORIO--she was born July 21, 1862, married ALBERT CHARLES CREEL on July 19, 1879 in Harrison County, MS. They lived in Handsboro, MS which later became Gulfport and reared 9 children there. >From family line of Thomas J. Creel and Elizabeth Dearman of SC>TN>MS. By one of there sons: CHARLES WOODBURY CREEL and wife LUCINDA NICHOLAS. --------------------- ALBERT CHARLES CREEL died in Handsboro, MS on April 30, 1910. Some time after he died the widow and children moved to New Orleans where MARY ANNA LORIO CREEL died on April 24, 1929, at the home of her daughter, KATIE CREEL DEIBEL. ALBERT CHARLES CREEL was the son of CHARLES WOODBURY CREEL and LUCINDA NICHOLAS CREEL Both ALBERT CHARLES CREEL AND WIFE MARY ANNA LORIO CREEL are buried in ST. James Cemetery in Gulfport, MS On the 1900 census of Harrison County, MS, MARY ANNA LORIO CREEL's mother is listed as living in their household and is shown to be from Louisiana. Children of ALBERT CHARLES CREEL AND MARY ANNA LORIO CREEL: Rosa Agnes Creel- April 12, 1880 Albert Anthony Creel, Jan 26, 1882 Mary Theresa Creel - March 2, 1885 Charles Alexander Creel - Feb 3, 1888 Eleanora Creel - Aug 24, 1890 Katie Estella Creel - March 29, 1893 Otto Creel - Feb 2, 1896 Joseph Alonzo Creel - Feb 12. 1899 Clara Creel - Dec 22, 1904 If any one has any information on the LORIO, QUINN or this CREEL family, please let me know. If you have any suggestions as to how I might continue searching for ANTHONY LORIO and wife ELLEN QUINN LORIO, please get in touch with me. 3. Hello Listers, Is there anyone on the list researching the Sims family from Texas or who lived in MS. and then moved to Texas? My aunt Matilda Jumper born Prentiss Co. MS. married a John Sims in Texas 1889-1890. She was 14 at the time of their marriage. John and Matilda both died in 1913 in Gainsville, Texas. They had 3 children Henry Howard, Cecil Pearl and James Eddie. The children were brought back to MS.after the death of their parents by my father and raised by John William and Clemmie Jumper Hicks. John Willaim years later married Cecil Pearl after the death of Clemmie. Her mother Drucilla Pannell Jumper married a William Ponder after the death of James Jumper. Drucilla and William moved to Texas in 1890. Perhaps the Sims and Ponder families went to Texas together? If any of the above info rings a bell with anyone please contact me. Thank you, Evelyn
