I am trying to find all information about my Grandfather Edgar "Ed" EDMISTON, Who was born in Mississippi 1871 although there is not much on EDMISTON's on the Mississippi sites, on the 1910 Shelby County federal census it says he was born in MS. I want to share this with everyone and if anyone has access to records past 1915 to 1930 in Byhalia, Marshall County, MS. I remember as a child my Father born 1915 would walk into the room where his father, my grandfather Edgar "Ed" EDMISTON was in and Edgar would say " Buster do you remember Byhalia?", and both of them all of a sudden would start laughing so hard that tears would fill their eyes and they would almost fall to the floor when my Father would say, "sure I remember Byhalia." Now my Father was a good man but in his younger years he drank a lot and he had a bad temper and even when he was not drinking he would fight you at the drop of a hat, I believe that something big happened in Byhalia and it would not surprise me if they tore the town up. Thank you, Bobby

Susan, Thank you so much for your reply. I wonder if you could clarify a couple of things for me. The John Scott I am researching was married to a full blood Choctaw woman and by 1830 they had 3 children. According to the 1831 Choctaw Armstrong Census they were living on Leaf River. I was told that the 1830 Federal Census shows him to be alone--could it be that the census taker just took the information for John and because his wife and children were Indian they were omitted form the record? I know that some of the early census taker were instructed not to enumerate the Indians and wonder if that might be what happened in this case. Another thing, the area in Covington County in which this John Scott of the 1830 Census was living, would be in the area the Choctaws had given up years before that 1830 Federal Census--were there still Choctaw Indians still living in that area who would have been in the 1831 Choctaw Armstrong Census taken in 1831? In the 1831 Armstrong Census, John Scott is living next to Joseph Fisher. From what Dawn said on Tuesday the John Scott on the 1830 Federal Census is also living next to Joseph Fisher. I don't know what to make of this. Lola Laurel-Jones County Library wrote: > In reply to your question of the 1830 Census of Covington County, MS. Thank you so much for sending this website to the 'list'. It means a lot to me - my late husband served in Vietnam and I'm a Vietnam era veteran in my own right. That was such a bad time in our history and if families can get some kind of closure from this website it's time well spent. I know all the people on this list and others will look at this website and maybe just maybe help a grieving family find a loved one. Thanks again. --- James and Kim Smith <mikis1314@earthlink.net> wrote: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "jean mccoy" <mccoy@gvtc.com> > To: <SMITH-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 5:31 PM > Subject: [SMITH] check this out > > > > This site may be of help to someone. > > > > Dog Tags Found In Viet Nam > > > > On a recent "Today Show" there was a story about two > men who went > > to Hanoi on a business trip.
